One thing I thought about is, is there enough clearance to mount the top hat to the bucket, then install the coilover into the top hat putting the thru bolt in last?

I looked at that too took the bolt out and made sure the top hat will actually fit in the tower when that bolt isn't in the way and it does but the bolt would be half way threw the tower so that wouldn't work either.

i agree the HF cases are a solid option ive flown with the 3800 one packed full of pistols, i also have one packed full of emergency/first air supplies that I forgot to strap down and has been slamming around in my truck bed/canopy. for a few days and I've not been disappointed with them at all.

Had my faux TRD beadlocks done in bronze chrome and picked them up today. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to re-mount the Wildpeaks.

I just went to my local McFaddendale Hardware to look for a single bolt that I was missing. 5/16-24 in 1/4" torx bolts are apparently difficult to find. I found some titanium ones in black on line for $8.56/piece. At 48 of these, I think I'll stick with the stainless bolts!

I've seen top hats like that before. It gets bolted first and then the large bolt goes through it above the frame.

I thought that could be the case but I tried that and it sits to low for me to get the bolt in once the top is in. Fox has been very helpful and talked to a few people on the phone. They gave me the right product number I needed and then I asked about the ones I ordered off Amazon last night after they closed. They said the stainless ones I got should work as long as they are the right length (2.125)(good luck) so I ordered 2" and 2.25" and will probably cut down the longer to fit perfect.

Edit: I don't think I need to saw threw the top. I don't think there is enough to do that at all. But I will double check when I get home. It is most likely that whoever had them before me was not using them on a 2nd gen Tacoma, Probably a first from what I am finding.

Not today but over the weekend installed a Body Armor Hiline bumper along with a 20" LED bar and Rough Country pro9500s winch (just put the Prinsu cab and cap racks on a few weeks back too). Due to my impatience and poor planning I was working in a bit of a snowstorm half the time. I still need to finish up the LED wiring and I'll soon be adding a remote extension for the winch, but already pretty happy with the results. Looking forward to putting it all to use this spring.
