Best wheel and tire combo fit

Looking for a little advice as I'm not that experienced with wheel and tire sizes. I have a 2021 TRD Sport that I will be installing a 3 inch lift on. I've been looking at the TRD Style Matte Black 6-Lug Wheel; 17x8; with 16mm offset and want to run 275/70R17 with them. My main concern is rubbing as trimming is kind of deal breaker for me and I will admit I'm completely confused by the offset explanations. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If we want to be fair. All wheel tire combos fit the Tacoma. It’s a universal lug spacer offset.

 

Here is some truth to add to your confusion.

Lifts don't create tire clearance. They don't even add ground clearance at the lowest point of the truck, which is the axle line.

 

But but. It more bigger and more tallerer!

 

Search the 275/70/17 thread.

 

Which 3” lift are you getting?

-16mm offset and 275s, you will rub on fender liners and/or pinch weld.

 

I still hear/read about some “off road” shops that tell you that the lift is needed for larger tires.

 

I'm curious about this because I have the same year/model as OP.

If I do the OEM TRD Lift Kit (2 inch), the biggest tires I can put on there are:

275/70R17 - 1.5 inches taller and 0.4″ wider than factory

Current Tire size:

265/65R17

For a 3" Lift, here is the limit:

285/70R17 - 2 inches taller and 0.8" wider than factory

With OEM sport wheels you should be fine, might rub on mudflaps.

+4mm offset (sema wheels) seem to work quite well for a lot of folks.

You can fit 285s on a stock taco with right alignment and offset wheels.

There's a lot of info out there...I do compare and another site had the same figures.

 

Whoever says that you need a lift to fit taller tires is 100% wrong.

Unless you plan to drive in straight line only and never cycle your suspension, then yes.
