So yeah, as long as you are willing to do the work, leave them out. I also painted mine with slip plate once I was done.

Pretty cool stuff. I’m honestly glad I learned that. Never put much thought into doing it intentionally.

I now have a new project added on to an already big project lol

@snowsk8air2 remind me to do this before we install mine. Since I loose them all the time.

    Be quiet you!

Ha. I noticed a difference right away in mine after driving it. It’s a huge project though and takes forever. I sand off so much rust. Ended up doing it by hand because the rust cloud was too much.

    This was from one spring.

And I painted between them with this stuff. It’s super slick.

Makes why they add them at least. Doesn’t matter all that much to me after having noisy springs for most of the truck life. I’m more concerns with the clamps and how they are bent. Amy idea what would have caused that or why couldn’t be done to prevent it. moving a lot more than I would like to see.

Clamps bent from the springs separating on full flex and they want to twist out of sorts when that happens. Lots of forces there. So, straps could be a solution

Okay that’s what I was thinking may be the case. It was supposed that to get strapped when I had my JD pivot kit put on but wasn’t. I’ll have to revisit.

Did the clamps impact the frame during compression?

That happened to me when one of my bolts came loose and hit the frame which caused the clamp to bend.

I Doubt it but something I can look at. It would have hit the hydro bumps before that happens. (In theory)

The bolt on the clamp? If so that’s an interesting idea. Both sides are bent so I’m thinking it’s not that but anything is possible.

Based on your pics I’d argue it’s only the inner side of the clamps which indicates possible frame contact. Even with bumps you still might hit the clamp due how the factory shackle is designed. Notice every bent clamp pic is on the frame side.

Take my example. I bent one of my clamps well before I would have engaged the bumpstop. Granted mine is a little different because the bolt was partially hanging out.

I’d check your frame tomorrow when it’s light. See if you can find any marks.

Mine was different because one of the bolts for the spring clamps came loose and was hanging out by an inch or so and it hit the frame and bent the clip.

The only thing I’d suggest on yours is making sure the nuts are out if it’s hitting the frame. Sorry for the crude pic but I’m on my phone. I’d run the clips like this. Yours are the other way currently with the nut in. So you have less frame to clip clearance. Assuming frame contact is the issue (which I still think it is).

Good point that makes sense. Did not cross my mind that could be the issue but makes sense.

fantastic artwork. I was following you.

What did you notice out of it? I’d have to imagine it in a sense makes them smoother and faster.

I've been super frustrated with all of the stupid limitations with color vs what base and packages are available...oh and now you want that softex interior in black well now you need to start over because that is only available with these colors and packages...makes no friggin' sense :notsure: Ultimately I would like an SR5 but I can't get the color and interior combo I want

yeah i just asked for the first double cab off-road available the soonest and didn't even ask what colour it was. Got it in a few months while my friends who ordered specific combos have been waiting almost a year now and still don't have their truck.
