Unfortunately, that's the business side of things. Personally, I think the biggest thing that has driven down ratings since the 2000's has been moving races to more specialty networks that fewer people have access to. I think the increase in viewership recently has a lot to do with many more races being put on the main networks. Unfortunately, with that territory comes the greed and premium $$ demand and thus, more commercials to pay for the resources.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
People are just bitches now. Social media has made most feel they have control over things that are completely out of the depths they have understanding for. It's gang or hoard mentality. What should happen is Mike Joy comes on and tells everyone who does not enjoy the broadcast to promptly fuck off and that they are welcome to find something better to do with their time. These are the same people who would come unglued if someone dared challenge them on anything they are actually responsible for. Our society is just completely fucked and people have a sense of self worth that is vastly overestimated.
Perhaps we should go back to the days where everyone got 4 channels and the coverage was grainy and you had to get off your ass to go flip the channel. To be blunt, the majority of Americans have become self absorbed pricks who are extremely uneducated who are not actually good at anything besides being a ass.

LOL, I say it all the time. Most men have never been punched in the nose these days and it shows. If someone posted something stupid and then the next time you opened your door you got stuffed in the face for it. Things might change a bit. Stupid should hurt and these days it rarely seems too.

I deal with it at work. My team likes to bitch but never has a solution or an idea of how to improve anything and it becomes a cancer. I tell all of my staff. You are welcome to come bitch about anything you want but for every negative comment you must provide two examples of something we do well or should sustain. If you have a problem with a person, bring it to my attention but my next question will be "but, what do you like about them?". It is an issue of perspective and expectation most of the time.

We play a game where at anytime I can fire off something that irritates me about anyone but I can also tell you two things I like or respect. And I challenge them to do the same for me. If I cannot come up with two things I like for every negative then you no longer work here. It's an extremely simple and effective system.

I can agree with that. Criticism can certainly be good. But, bitching just to bitch while offering no solutions (or solutions that demonstrate how little you understand about a subject) is just toxic. It's one thing if you can have a two way discussion, but more often than not, people just want their opinion heard and they don't want to listen to anyone else's opinion or even facts. While social media is a big blame for this, I'd also say it existed before. You just didn't have the opportunity to interact with people as easily as now and we see what that has done. The NASCAR comment sections are nearly as toxic as political ones and is the most toxic group of any sport I follow. And that's actually saying a lot considering the teams I follow and how the fans react in even the slightest setbacks, let alone bad seasons.

Penalties announced. All Hendrick teams get 100 points and 10 playoff points docked. Elliott and Barry are not affected in the driver points for obvious reasons. The 31 team also receives that same penalty. Crew chiefs are suspended for 4 races and fines $100K

Hamlin is docked 25 points and fined $50k.

Justin Haley is currently at -40 points in the standings.

Almirola also loses two crew members to suspension for 2 races.

Oh well, guess it's a good thing HMS will win 60% of the races. I would be surprised if they do not appeal and at least get some of that reduced.

Probably. Even so, the regular season standings basically means nothing except in terms of the bonus points. But, it's still win and you're in. I think the 5, 24, and 9 will be ok. Jury is still out on the 48 for me.
