knock sensor

i have 1998 3.4 v6 cel say's knock sensor was going to try and change the pigtil frist does anyone have any thing to add never change one before?????

 

the knock sensor(s) are normally open circuits. so you'd have to have a short in the pigtails or the wiring between them and the ecm to have that be the problem.

have you heard / felt a lot of pre-ignition going on?

 

The pig tails get brittle from all the heat. That would be my guess. I have only see them go bad if someone has been in there before, like if the headgaskets were done. If you have to put sensors in make sure you tighten them to the correct spec. You dont want to over tighten them..
