    Hey guys,

I just listed this new product in the shop, Tailgate Storage for the 2005-2024+
    Price: $345

    https://www.bpfabricating.com/products/bpf-2005-2015-toyota-tacoma-tailgate-panel

Finally a flat tailgate with function. Need some extra storage in a secret protected location? This is a great way to take advantage of that unused space in your tailgate. Great for storing recovery gear, blankets, rain gear, air hoses and almost anything else you would need quick access to. The latches are lock/key to keep your gear safe. Head to the beach and leave your electrical fob under lock and key. Or prep all your food when camping on a nice flat surface.

    Features:
    • CNC Laser
    • Made from 1/8th Aluminum.
    • Comes raw ready for paint or install as is. (Pictured tailgate storage was painted with black bed liner paint)
    More Info:
    • Two Black powder coated paddle latches with keys.
    • Sound deadening not included.
    • When storing items just be aware that they may get wet. So for items that need to stay dry, keep them in a water proof bag.

Any option for drop in storage bins to keep everything from moving around?

Do you have any photos or videos of it installed on a 2nd gen tailgate?

That's what I was expecting to see, great concept but I'll need to have a full storage compartment. This will only work for clothing and items that don't have weight to it. Once heavy items move around, it's going to damage the thin sheet metal from the inside. The product does look amazing and the latches are A1.

    Weight estimate?

Would be killer to have some sort of flip up panel to cover the tailgate gap when unloading rocks/gravel/sand/trash. That's the thing I'd most like to store in my tailgate to be honest, would save time when loading/unloading.

Also would love first gen Tundra support, that's the one where MH doesn't really cut the mustard (I have one and don't love it, whereas I do love my other MH boards).

Any plans on a drop in box to secure items vs them sitting against the thin sheet metal of the tailgate?

Once the tailgate is up things don't move around to much. I'm looking into getting some custom made though. I do have a video of an 05-11 I'll upload it to youtube and post a link shortly.

Do you mean on the outside? where it flips up?

I wasn't sure if people were going to want to cut out the middle to have a larger opening. Yes definitely want to be mindful with what your store back there. Appreciate your thoughts, thank you!

I didn't think of that, but I will give it some thought as its a good idea. I will be working a Tundra version soon. Shipping/packaged weight is 14 pounds, but I can weigh one by it self and get back to you.

Yes, just waiting on a 3D scanner. I added Kilmat which helps quite a bit. Once the tailgate is up right thing stay pretty put.

Honestly a great price for what it is. It's like a large bed storage panel!

    Nice job OP!

Oh, to where the packout would be recessed into the tailgate? That would be neat too.

oh that would be rad. in theory you the packouts wall/floor page could be added. If OP adds recessed inserts you could then mount them to that. I really like that idea.

I really dig it. At :04 you show some of the trouble with the 2nd gen tailgate - there's not much depth (vs 3rd gen), and the spars prevent a long/shallow box option.

If a box is made that goes the length of it although less depth the sides of the box would help with bracing I would assume.

    Hey guys,
I wanted to show a few ideas on how to store your gear. We installed aquarium foam and Velcro MOLLE bags. Both options are great but definitely don’t need both. You have the freedom to organize it depending on your needs!
No matter how you use it, one of the most convenient things about this tailgate storage is that it is a flat workable surface. The stock tailgates are corrugated, making the surface uneven. Simply resting a drink on it is a challenge. The BPF tailgate is great for a tabletop or cooking surface or simply just putting your drink down.

Thanks for all the feedback on this. I appreciate it and always looking for more input!

Thanks man! Yes for sure, I agree. We are looking at making something like this in the future. Bins can limit space but it would be nice to have the option. Items like this are things that can always be added down the line!
