I think I speak for most Tacoma owners when I say we don't want more gimicks that manufacturers can mark up 3X - 10X. Keep Toyota trucks simple, reasonably comfortable, and reliable please.

Edit: I should not have posted the following part - As for you OP, you should sell your Tacoma and go buy something else. There are plenty of hairdressers who have great recommendations on premium features that I'm sure you'll find valuable.

Edit: Hey @Lava-road, @wrightme43 is right. I was not particularly gracious in this post. As an explanation but not an excuse, I had just found out some bad news regarding a family member’s health when I posted this. I apologize and hope you have a great weekend.

A box in the tailgate for shaking up beers or carrying your trophy largemouth home (after you measured it) just sounds like a marketing department’s answer to the question that no one even asked. My guess is that their focus groups also told them that deleting headlight switches was also a great idea.

No offense intended, but I’ll hang on to my Toyota, thx

Most of that stuff is just hokey gimmicks that will hardly ever get used. Put a measuring tape in your truck.

Found a solution to the Tacoma’s lack of tailgate gimmicks.

Buddy of mine, has a new Denali 2500, with one of those sissy tailgates. First day, lowered it, and it smashed right it drawbar in receiver. Great design Government Motors...lol

I have to agree somewhat. I'm old school (and approaching "wicked-old" as well :() so I'm all good on my 2014, except the damping feature sure would be nice. Dunno why, but at least 50% of the time I'm clicking the handle with stuff cradled in the other arm and it's just a matter of time before something dumps and lands on my feet. I don't need the power button release on the side or the multi-function tailgate on the Silverado or Denali, but Toyota should have added a manual (key) locking tailgate in 2005 and a power-locking tailgate tied to the power door-locks (including remote) to the 2nd gen in 2010.

So all you anti innovation folks: can you explain why having a locking tailgate linked to my keyless entry is bad?

Have you ever accidentally unlocked your truck with the fob in your pocket or pack?

why would I link my locking tailgate to your keyless entry? Sounds like a recipe for prison rape.
