Component Speaker Question

Real quick question guys. Where are you installing the crossovers for your component speakers. I have an access cab and I'm looking to do component 6.5's for both front and back. I'm not planning on a sub just yet because I want to keep things clean and I like my center console.

 

Personally I would go into the kick panels for passive xovers.

 

Have you done this? Is there enough space?

 

there is plenty of space. from a pic I saw a guy had speakers recessed into the kick pannels, it looked badass

 

Zip-tied right above the kick panels.

 

What about the rears?

 

best place to mountthem IMO would be next to the amp! It's just a little extra speaker wire and if you need to trouble shoot they are right their!

 

Good question. I never thought of putting components back there.

I will tell you that there is plenty of room to mount anything under that rear door panel if you don't feel like running a lot of wire.

Just shooting out ideas here, but maybe you could get some sheet metal screws and just attach them to the inner door itself. The window doesn't open, so you don't need to worry much about water, but the vibration may knock some shit loose after awhile.

I'm no professional, just trying to get some ideas out there.

 

i zip tied my front crossovers into the doors. the only downside is you can't adjust em once you put the door back together.

 

There is room in the kickpanels. As far as the doors go, they can go in there no problem but 99% of the xovers I have seen after say 2 years are rusted up and damaged do to moisture. I mention kick panel because they can be accesed very quickly in the Taco and out of danger of water and well protected and hidden.

 

See now that makes since. I will have to take a closer look at those kick pannels.
