2022 SR5 bought October 11 2022. 4185 miles. Wife and I just came home from early dinner. Got out smelled coolant. Popped the hood and bingo. Mines is actually dripping from the crossover pipe down onto the top of the transmission and splashing on the cats. And I’m supposed to go to Wyoming next month for 3 months. Absolute bullshit.

Sucks. I think it is only a matter of time before the aftermarket comes up with a metal replacement. I don't expect Toyota to do that. Doesn't give you the warm and fuzzies about plastic parts.

OP..can you ask if they just replace with the same part or is it a new and improved?
if is the same won't be long until someone posts that they had it replaced and the replacement is now leaking.

2022 and they have not addressed it yet!!!

Thought that coolant pipe leak was long past. First time I've heard on a newer tacoma. Makes wonder now the upgraded pipe part number now leak's to.

So here’s a thought. They come quick and fast when I’m pissed off at shit…like I am now.

I can fab shit, fix shit, you name it. Thanks to my grandfather. I don’t know jack about chemistry through.

I know our blocks are aluminum as well as other parts that contact the coolant. Anyone by chance know what type of aluminum our blocks are made of?

My tig ability is lacking on aluminum but I can crank on stainless. I’m just thinking there has to be a better way to make these f’n things. I can fab headers with stainless but I think there are issues with stainless and coolant if I remember. Wouldn’t be any different than a custom header bend and two gasket manifolds. Really need to get my game up to speed on aluminum.

I keep hearing about an updated crossover pipe. Anyone have a part number for the supposed “old” part number so I can check the changes compared to the current part number?

They are a simple fix on the later models like the 2022, you simply re-seat it. It's an assembly problem. They should be able to fix it in a day. It's slow season.

    No vehicle is perfect.

I thought they did fix the crossover pipe leak years ago. Haven't heard of any new issues till now. As far as the timing cover leak...keep crossing your fingers hoping its the next guys problem.

With it being a new vehicle I would assume either a gasket was not properly aligned or bolts not properly torqued. Probably does not needs a new pipe.

All my experience with leaks, they don't get better, just the opposite. Time to get out that flex seal stuff.

So you have a defect, it is really that big of a deal? I'm pretty sure the dealer will replace it and you will never have another issue. While that part seems to fail quicker than other parts, I don't think there is really need for a knee jerk reaction to go out and build a new one. Toyota sells hundreds of thousands of Tacomas every year, your issue is really a very small percentage and as others have said it is very rare occurrence. Have your dealer fix it and enjoy your trip.
