I know that when I had that 4R I was like wtf, why are the tie rods backwards. I put new ball joints and tie rods in and immediately realized why they were the way they were. To Zane's point, unless there is significant cost savings, there really isn't a good reason to change to the Tacoma parts for a street truck. I tried finding pictures of the 4r setup I had but unable to.

 

I was considering the change because I already have a set of ball joints and tierods on hand for the Tacoma. Not a big deal. I'll order the correct parts for the 4R.

There's also the satisfaction of part consolidation. But I am curious about the orientation of the tie rods on your Tacoma. Wouldn't put it past me to mess them up after a few beers.
