That Chevy looks 100 times better than that ugly ass tundra rear end.

Will agree about the size, they definitely got bigger over the years.

But it still rides like an “old school truck”. Most of the truck is still ancient.

I had a 20 Chevy Colorado that had the transmission issue, it felt like you were running over rumble strips while driving down a smooth highway. They replaced the torque converter first and when that didn't solve the problem then they replaced the transmission. It wasn't long after that I traded the vehicle off. I really liked the Colorado as it had good power and handled well, but I can't deal with powertrain issues on a new vehicle. But with all that said, the tailgate on my 23 Tacoma works perfectly without issues.

They are talking about the tailgate being locked with the doors, not an auto open button or something. You can’t unlock it with the handle, you have to reach into your pocket and hit the unlock button or use a key

That's because GM used hygroscopic (word?) fluid. Essentially it would pull in moisture through the gaskets over time as it heats/cools. Eventually, you had enough added moisture that at temp, it would boil, and then create pockets of gas/vapor. People were reporting that it wouldn't happen when the truck was cool, after an ATF flush, etc. Then, after a couple months, kablamo! The babymax wasn't having those issues since it was still on the older transmission.

The service bulletin (word?) for it was basically an ATF flush with a new (compatible) fluid and that was it. Apparently it has been working, I guess. When they replaced your TC, they probably did some sort of drain and fill, and obviously, same when they replaced the AT all together.

Never underestimate our desire for a stupid thread. Never.

True dat with transmissions, but especially the AFM lifters. My son is a master mechanic and has an almost full time business replacing AFM lifters in 5.3L GM engines (Sierra and Silverado). Last one was a 2017 with about 68,000 miles on it that belonged to a friend of ours and he was JUST out of warranty. When he pulled it apart, it actually had a BENT pushrod as well on cyl #7. Dealership quoted him $7,000 to replace the lifters. My son did it for $2,500 including parts. Lots of labor with that shit though....I watched. Amazing nothing worse happened to that engine other than some ticking and power loss (and codes for misfires). And of course, GM knows nothing about the AFM BS. I have a 2012 Sierra Crew cab that I bought new and someone told me when I first bought it about lifter issues. I bought a "Range" device that plugs into the ODB2 port and keeps it in V8 mode. My truck hasn't run in 4 cyl mode since it had about 3,000 miles on it and it runs like it's brand new at 110K miles now. Love that truck.

    Threads like these, good times.

I like the simple, forward, un-engineered tailgate.

However, I dislike the ribbed panel. Like why, why cant it be flat. Hence the Mountain hatch. Solid upgrade, highly recommend.
