I totally get that once you start adding stuff you’re gonna start getting rattle noises, that being said it drives me F’ing nuts. I get a rattle from behind the head unit from the front camera install I did. Also get a rattle from after installing the taco garage dash mount (not the mount itself, that’s solid) and having my phone there, also after I installed the cargo net above the back seat. Haha F me, I just turn up the music and slam my fist into things I hear rattle and hope it goes away.

I did the same thing about 4 years ago, hasn't rattled since...although I folded up a black business card.

everytime i fix a rattle, it seems like two more pop up. i gave up on fixing them. my current annoying ones, are the passenger side a-pillar buzzing against the dash or windshield, and my windows rattle a bunch (worse when cracked). also getting a bunch of wind noise through the doors i think.

Too lazy to apply the color later? ;)

Worst of it is that I accepted it might be "find a way to live with it". Subaru was my choice 3 years ago (but suspected it was insufficient), then an off-road shop person said he would not trust Subaru past a slightly-washboard gravel road at 5 degree slope.

Getting something with capability means accepting a few (maybe more than a few) bugs.

    Moonroof?

Honest to god - try this first if so: Open the moon roof, use a general cleaner to wipe down the rubber seal and the body of the truck where the moonroof closes to remove grime & dirt - close and check for rattles

I spent months pressing on my headliner thinking something was rattling only to find out it was grime on the rubber seal of the moonroof. I do this once every 3-4 months now and dont have any issues

Should I be concerned about breaking tabs on this. Also, any tips on how to remove it without breaking anything. There’s a rattle at the front of my headliner.0EB16893-BCCE-4BD5-81DD-5388535D21C2.jpg

No moon roof. I think the rattle is where the headliner meets the overhead console at the front passenger side. It’s intermittent and I forgot to work on it since my last post.

I did a 10 hour road trip the other day and noticed this noise coming from the console that houses the overhead lights and crawl control. It has gotten worse over time and I figured out like many that if you push on the console it stops. I took it apart and wiggled things around and ended up taping the places where plugs enter the console because they seemed to make some noise. I also taped under where the wires touch the plastic of the console. I put the headliner back and it was still there though slightly better. Then I noticed that it was the actual headliner. There seems to be a few layers to it and they had come separated during the winter cold temps I'm guessing. When I lightly squeeze them together they stick and then unstick and it generated a sound that sounds just like what I hear when driving. So, I sqeezed them together tightly and worked my way around the entire edge of the hole where the console goes and reinstalled the console. No more sounds. We'll see how long that lasts, but I think I found the culprit and can find a more permanent solution if it returns. Man that noise was annoying!

I’ve got the exact same rattle, but only since I had a dent repair done on my roof and the PDR guy had to drop the headliner and put it back up. Do you guys think the clips, once disturbed, get loose? What if we just replaced all four of those clips?

Someone else said the headliner is touching the roof - but at what point? Where?

I want to explore those two avenues

Damn - just seeing this - is there a way you can post some pictures so we can mimic exactly what you did to fix it? Are you just saying that the headliner at the console opening is kinda separated and just needs to be mashed together?

Also have you guys noticed that the OEM console assembly includes a “headliner silencer”… wondering if that’s the white plastic lip that goes around the edge of the opening and if they thing over time loses integrity? Not sure.

Mine did this, along with other rattles. It all went away on its own after about 18k miles.

OK - Finally got around to looking into the creak - Pulled the console down with a little bit of force - started at the two window side - disconnected the wiring harness. On my 2023 Offroad the creak comes from a black long piece of plastic that is rubbing against the foam liner. I used and old cycling sock (clean or else you replace the creak with doritos like smell - any bit of fabric will do) and wrapped it between the black plastic and the foam - put the console back - no creak. Here is a quick video of the fix after the consule has been pulled. https://youtu.be/MCuuwU40cCU
