    Hello All,

I greatly appreciate the advice in advance.

I am currently getting new wheels (bronze boyzzz). After I get the wheels (16') I want to get a lift and new tires. I plan on getting 265/70or75/16r's. The guy at the shop said I should get a 3' lift. He said 3' because, as he stated, the SR RWD (forgive me if I don't explain this correctly) sits lower than the TRD stock. So basically said that the base SR RWD is lower stock than the other models. Is this true? Also would a 3 inch lift be too high for the 265/70 or 75's/16's? If it's true that the base SR RWD is lower to begin with, would a 3' lift technically be a 2' lift?

    Thanks again for any responses.

    welcome aboard

I reckon the guy at the shop wants to get your money. You can fit 265 75 16

Please explain the purpose of a 3" lift on a 2wd truck.

Not really judging, I just don't see the purpose.

Apologies. I meant will 265/70-75'/16's look to small with a 3 inch lift.

Higher ride and I like the look tbh. Why would it being 2wd vs 4wd make a difference. It's either lifted or it's not. Plus folks with 4wd only use it like .5% of the time.

If I'm an avid 4 wheeler and need clearance, sure. But as a 2wd owner I'm not giving up a lower center of gravity thus less stability to look cool.

But that's just me. You do you.

Would you still hold that opinion if I said its a 2 inch lift to accommodate a larger tire size I want? He offered 3' but I actually just want 2'. I appreciate your feedback..

He’s incorrect. 3rd gen Tacoma models are all listed at 9.4” ground clearance, at least from 2016-2020. The newer factory lifted package may have more wheel well clearance, that I’m not sure of.

I would stay away from the 3 inch lift unless you have some serious need for it. I’m lifted 2 inches and running 265/75/16 with AT tires and my truck looks fine sorry no pics on this iPad. If you read enough on here it seem anything over 2-2.5 lift can cause a list of items you need to watch out for or take care of down the road. But in the end it’s your money and only you can decide.

Great point. I think I'm going to ask for the two inch. Should I go 2 inch front 1.5 rear? For some reason I've seen a lot of folks do that on here.

My bad I wasn't clear with my question. I meant would the 265/75/16s look to small on a 2'-3 inch lift** apologies.

It depends if you want a level look for the truck or you want to keep the original rake look with the backend higher then the front.

What I actually want is a 2" lift in the front and to make that level with the back. But I'm not sure what equipment to look at to do that. I've read Bilstein 5100s. But I'm not sure what else I'd need. I'm going to the shop tomorrow to talk to the dudes there about it. Do you know what parts would be best to achieve what I described so I have some knowledge going in?

What did you use for the two inch lift? I've decided on 2' in the front and level rear.

If you want the best ride go Bilstein 6112 on mid setting and Bilstein 5160 out back with a 1” aal. 5100’s are a roughish ride. That’ll set you up for 2/1

Lifting more than 2" will require you to start thinking about replacing other parts, so I'd say stick to that or less if you want to lift just for looks or just to bring the front up slightly to be more level. My understanding is that 265/75/R16s will fit stock height with no lift needed though, and 265/70/R16 is the same size that comes stock on TRD Offroads/Pros (before the offroad had a lift over stock like they do now).

So should I just grab the Bilstein 5100 and level it to the rear? I have a rare tacoma lol. I have a 2021 4x2 DCSB. They fella at the shop said that the 2wd Tacoma is set lower than the 4x4 or something like that. Not sure if he's correct. How much higher do you think the rear is than the front of my model? I've looked everywhere and can't find the #s. I'll have to do it manually.
