SR_SR5 to OR Headlights with DRL Turn Signal

Anyone swapping to OR headlamp assemblies for SR/SR5 types. The SR/SR5 with the DRL as part of the Turn signal has the OR pin in the Body ECU that by adding the missing terminal (pin) you get the same function as the Taco's with LED DRL.
Turn signal would continue to be DRL with added surround LED "L" also.

And, YES, remove the battery negative terminal BEFORE you go disconnecting anything.

 

Can one do this as well as disable the "L" DRL? I am the moron in another thread who wants to downgrade from LED to projectors, but the LED DRL's are not to my taste..that would open up my options to OR/Sport when headlight hunting (and maybe make the swap easier..?).

 

To disable the DRL one just needs to remove the DRL fuse.

 

Is that not needed to run the turns as DRL though?

 

This post is for Sr/SR5 which have the turn & DRL as one. For the LED headlights, the DRL is a separate circuit and has it's own fuse.

 

Sorry - misinterpreted this as converting the turn signals on OR/Sport headlights to also function as DRL when converting from SR/SR5.

 

That is exactly what it is...
OR have the L DRL, this would make the TURN signal DRL also if you have an SR/SR5 with Halogen turn DRL's.
You have a OR with LED headlight assemblies, so it's not for your TACO.

 

I have LED now, yes, but I was planning on a LED to projector downgrade - but at this point I am so turned around I am going to stick with the SR/SR5 conversion so I am not having to convert a conversion. Abandon thread! Abandon thread!
