Tacoma tailgates are behind in innovations

The best part of the Tacoma tailgate is the soft release and the composite bed, and that’s all it needs. My long bed gets used and abused and has barely any nicks or scratches on it. Carry on with your fancy shit that’s going to inevitably break and cost thousands to fix.

 

Chevy is such a forward thinking company that they never fix things from the past.

Easy, I as a daily driver, have zero need to lock my tailgate and I have zero need for keyless entry

Locking the tailgate would be a great idea if it weren't for that gaping hole on top of the bed.

 

If my tailgate is locked and my hands are full of hardware I skyhook it in from 15 feet, Kareem style

 

My point was to prevent tailgate theft since so many here are pointing out the costs of replacement gates. Dude had his stolen when he stopped at Walmart for 15 minutes. Unless you are in a garage 24/7 your truck and it’s tailgate are not safe.

 

People steal tailgates. That’s the need for a lock, not to protect the stuff inside.

Seriously hoping Toyota engineers resist comments from Equinox drivers & tune out gimmicks like tailgate storage on the next gen.

Literally, offer the same truck w some added low end torque, a couple extra gears and throw in a grab handle. Screw it together tight and there’s another 10 year best seller.
