Right, dont get the macho nonsense, my wife's RX hybrid 2.5L has more get up and go than my Taco, I for one will have no issues moving to a hybrid 4 cyl powertrain if thats the case. Let's be real, most Taco owners use it as a daily grocery getter and the rest tricked out for "overlanding" on the IG.

 

4.0 = truck engine
3.5 = minivan engine
2.4T = car engine

The writing is on the wall. Gen 5 will have a motorcycle engine.

 

^5th gen will be EV, either battery or hydrogen depending on how the tea leaves read. Combustion engine sales will be banned in 7 years in some jurisdictions, 12 years in most jurisdictions.

If say, 12 of the 50 US states ban combustion engine sales in 2035, most automakers will stop spending money on combustion engine development.

On the other end of the spectrum, Hyundai stopped selling combustion engine vehicles in Norway two months ago.

As someone who tows a ton, I'd take the nice fat torque delivery of a turbo 4, hybrid assisted or not over any v6 offered in a Taco, ever.

Peak torque @ 4k RPM is basically minivan numbers.
239 HP is subcompact numbers.

 

Ahhh, good call, I missed that. So 440 Six-Pack. I was thinking about this after I posted and remembered those exhaust manifolds from the RB motors, so yeah, definitely not a 340.
