You need to use some rubbing alcohol, just like the kind you have for cleaning a cut. You can scrap it off with a razor knife but you run the risk of scratching your needles and those scratches will show up once you paint them and put light to them. Just pour a little alcohol onto a papertowel or napkin and rub the needle down, the paint comes off pretty easy. Then if you want to paint it, the best thing to use is acrylic paint (white paint will reflect the color the best) because it adheres well to plastics. Use a #2 paint brush to paint it because its very fine. Let it dry for a minute and your done!

Also the easiest way ive found to take off the needles is to take a tissue and a fork, put the tissue lying down on the cluster so that you do not put any marks on it and push the prongs of the fork under the needle and gently pry up. They are kinda stubborn sometimes but they do come off.

I ordered all of my lights from www.oznium.com, find the Surface Mount PLCC-2 SMT LED lights, those are the ones you want. $.50 a piece, I ordered 20 blues and 10 whites and changed every single light out. If you are only doing the needles, you have 2 behind the tach, 2 behind the speedo, and 1 behind the temp and fuel gauges.

This is what my needles looked like with no paint on them and blue LEDs . . .

They look kinda cool at night but during the day i couldnt even tell i had needles. And this is painted with blue LEDs . . .

theres a big difference in visibility

$.50 a piece is expensive. They're a lot cheaper here

Diggin the white numbers with the blue needles. Gideon, you should do a write up on the process. Seems like a inexpensive mod that adds a lot.

I am a certified IPC specialist, in short, I do SMT soldering all the time at my job. I may also be able to get a good discount on the LEDS. If there is enough interest, I will change the dash LEDS to anybody on TW for a nominal fee.
PM me if you are interested.....
