Anyone with kiddos on a shotgun/macride seat that has some sort of stem pad you use? I keep imagining my little smashing her teeth in on the stem after an unexpected bump or something. Wondering if an old school BMX stem pad would work?

Never used one for mine, but could be good insurance. You could always modify a cheap pool noodle.

Food for thought though, if your little one is potentially eating bar due to a jolt. You may be exceeding either the speeds you should be with a little, they’re too young, or the trail being ridden could be a touch advanced for their abilities at the moment. Please don’t take those thoughts as implications or judgment. Purely just Dad thoughts.

With the Hot Walk Carbon being 50% off, anyone ever traveled down the rabbit hole of looking for cool balance bikes for your little one?

The Strider brand just seems so boring to me....

I really like the Prevelo Alpha Zero, but at $220 I'm on that slippery slope I get into when shopping for my own bikes of, If I'm willing to spend $220, another $180 for full carbon everything doesn't seem so bad.... :spending:

Anybody had any cool balance bikes for their kiddos?

Solid point but it could happen with no more than them getting distracted for a second and their hands slipping off the bars. I originally thought of it last year when my daughter started leaning down on porpose with her face really close to the stem/bar. Just thought it was so fun for some reason. A strap and some padding is an obvious cheap solution, but I thought an easy on/off purpose built pad might be nice.

Sure. If you like setting money on fire, or are on kid no. 1 with plans for several more that can share the bike.

Get the strider and bling your own bike.

Pool noodle + painters tape. Problem solved using items 80% of parents already own.

I agree. I went with a $30 used styder and the kid loves it. #2 probably will too. I did add a bell at her request :D

Webought a kiddo pedal bike and removed the cranks for a while for my second daughter. When it was time to figure out pedaling just reinstalled and bam, she was off. Too easy. Wish we had done same for daughter one.

Do any of you guys have collapsible trail tools?

Trail boss seems to be the best collapsible option.
I was also scoping the Inteletool https://bermstyle.com/inteletool-interchangeable-head-tool/

Does anyone know about any others?

I've got a solid Mcleod tool, shovels, rakes, etc but looking for a setup to throw into a backpack for the further-to-reach zones.

I have the Shotgun seat, and this was a small concern of mine. However as backcoutryj touched on, Pool noodle & being intune with the kiddos ability/ comfort is key.
Also, I got the Pro handle bars to help with his position and grip. Somthing to consider.

    ^ This.

Was this inspired by the BermPeak video Seth made? Lol
Like he said... if you can swing it, it's your money.
I went with a 2nd hand woom bike. AWESOME kids bike!! But pricey.
Imo, small toddler starting around (1-2yr) I'd go Woom, 3+ Strider's fine.

Coming back to Adult bikes... is anyone else tempted to pull the trigger on something from Santa Cruz with there 20% factory sale? I suspect a lot of sales are going to be happening as the market catches up... and inflation bites down.

Local shop has the gloss translucent purple (really looks red but changes in different light) Hightower in my size and would honor the discount. I am fighting the urge...

LOL. It was inspired by a slow day at work, finding out I had $400 in my fitness benefit account, and browsing the specialized sales.

I’ll have to find that video tonight though!

I’m not actually going to do the hot walk Carbon. I am still looking for something more reasonable that is cool though. A buddy gave me a knockoff strider that I’ve been thinking about using as a template and making one myself.

I’m curious about the woom for 1-2 years vs strider for 3+. Is the woom smaller?

My daughter is still a little young, only 15 months, but has been running around on her little 4 wheel starter bike for a few months now. So I still have time to decide what I want to do

Nope, still overpriced for how their spec’d in my opinion.
