Same reason most truck manufacturers de-rate the same engine in heavier applications....because they want it to live a long time doing truck stuff. Nobody is towing with an IS350

    BOOOOOOOO!

I’ll take 318 ponies and the torque that comes with it!

It comes down to intended use.
You don’t use a car, like you would a truck.
HP & Torque curve will be different.
Trucks usually make more TQ lower in the RPM range.
Cars tend to make more HP higher in the RPM range.

I had to look up what a Lexus LM is. It's that Japanese van. I recall seeing those in Charlie's @PennSilverTaco Lexus thread and on some JDM wheel sites.

I wouldn’t feel too shorted. The 300+hp versions of the FKS still only make around 280lbft of twist, which isn’t a huge difference from the Taco’s 265, and technically even more than the current 1GR, which is an outstanding example of a “dedicated” truck motor.

More important is how that torque is delivered for hauling loads, towing, and off roading.

I can guarantee you the torque won't be where you want it and the tacoma version will work better in the tacoma

The thing I'm wondering about is, can the Tacoma engine be brought up to 318 hp with just an ECU tune or are there physical differences between the engines...

Let’s see…318 plus an Intercooled Supercharger…I’d love a stump puller ALL DAY, never mind the mud pit in 4lo in 4th gear:pumpkin:

Recoveries would be mint too :0)

For the stump puller, how many foot pounds of torque would that be??

    2 horses have 4 feet, so 8.
    (2 horses x 8 feet) + 1 lever = 1 stump puller.
