Nope just a tune. If I put a supercharger on it, it would blow that cute little 4 banger out of the water even more I would imagine

So you need to spend at least $7000 to make comparable gains to a 4th gen 2.4L with the hybrid motor. Not to mention the 2.4L was designed with forced induction in mind while the 3.5 was not. I think I’ll take the 2.4L which will get better mpg, have better low end torque and was made from the factory to handle forced induction. You can keep your “truck” engine, which is actually also used in multiple Toyota cars.

I think I care like 90% about the drivetrain and 10% about the package it comes in lol.

I can't wait to see something concrete.

Those gains seem unlikely with any simple tune on a NA engine. Especially an 87 octane tune. Do you have dyno results to post?

My truck has been a faithful and capable machine! But it’s not perfect. Gen 4 design, from what I’ve heard, is a solid upgrade IMHO.

Haha! “My tuner says my truck makes 308hp, but they kept the dyno sheet.” Feels like 2006 in here.

You don't actually believe the nonsense do you? 2024 model year cars are now on sale in USA. You think that 11 model years away ICE car will actually be banned? 0 chance that happens. What is realistic is Hybrid, PHEV, EV combined somewhere above 50%. But even that will be tough with lack of raw materials, unless we just simply say only every 5th person that wants a car can get one.

Toyota sells more Rav4s in 1 month in USA than all Hyundais sold in Norway from 2020-2022. So not that hard to accomplish 0 ICE sales, when you basically already sell close to 0 cars in certain markets compared markets like USA

There are already laws in place in a few states. Starting in 2035 no new gas vehicle sales in those states.

I have a GMC Canyon AT4X order in. 310hp/430tq sounds good to me. I don’t see Toyota beating that, and the tech options will probably be similar on the Pro (which finally appears to differentiate itself with the Sequoia and Tundra models).

I've built several of the twins on gm's website. I like everything about the Canyon except for the price. I can get a Colorado kitted out how I like it pretty comfortably though. The lack of a powered rear sliding window kills me though lol. I've made my peace with the lack of headlight switch... I'd probably go for the 430 lb-ft version since it's only a $300 upcharge, but even at 390 lb-ft I'd be happy.

I'm fortunate to be out of the market right now so I get to take it all in before I have to make a move.

I bet they could make the Pro competitive in regards to power, but I can't see myself paying as much for a midsize pickup pimped out that the Pro would command. Like you said, with the Pro going upmarket, I'm not going to be their target buyer.

Good for Toyota, bad for @Lt. Dangle I guess.

    In CA anything is possible…

But I think it’s just to pressure vehicle manufacturers start pushing out more eco friendly vehicles
