Carbon capture is an option once they can perfect it. Basically gasoline but a better option

I agree. Let’s discuss your grille lights instead! They sound fascinating.

The headlight switch is stupid, I’ve been trying to find physical photos to see if they ditched it but the only one online doesn’t show it yet. Canyons are pricey for sure, the AT4 I would buy is just over $50,000 MSRP which puts it $5,000 more than my Tacoma. Granted the GMC will come with more bells and whistles as you mention and 2” lift that the Toyota would have to be added. I figure you’ll be able to get a Canyon discounted in 6-12 months as well making the price easier to swallow.

The AT4 and ZR2 could end up being a built to order vehicle only. When dealers get their stock orders in they could move pretty fast and not see much of a discount.

The other trims could also be built in lower quantities making discounts rare. IDK how much pent up demand there is waiting for this new Canyon. I don't see GM building a lot of these trucks. If any of them sit in dealer's inventory for 6-12 months you might find a discount.

With the exception of Toyota, the other three don't seem to be building many midsize trucks. GM and Ford are currently at the end of their life cycle for their current midsize, which is keeping their production numbers down. Nissan is on their 2nd year of a new design. Retail truck sales are down, and people buy more trucks than any other class of vehicle. Not good for the manufacturers or consumers.

Hopefully GM succeeds with their new trucks. I always have felt great competition is for the greater good for all in the class (despite the majority of the tailgate topic states).

Regarding discounts there will always be dealers willing to discount. When inventory got crazy and normal F-150’s were over MSRP I found Granger Ford in Iowa doing 3% below invoice on an order. I saved $11,000 off MSRP on my truck and $13,000 compared to what my local dealer was willing to order one for. Even though quarter tons don’t demand $10,000 off I can still foresee $2,000-4,500 off with rebates on a AT4 or Z71. Perhaps not a ZR2 or AT4X as you mention makes sense.
