I was thinking about ordering a skid plate and rear bumper from 4x Innovations. Then I saw the cost for shipping. $430??? Crikey. That's more than the cost of the skid plates! I mean, I realize they are pretty heavy and probably need a truck with a liftgate, but that's just insane. When I ordered my front ARB bumper a couple years ago, it had free shipping. That probably was just a fluke though.

Are any of you experiencing super high shipping rates?

Damn, I just tried it myself and got $418 FedEx estimate via their site.

Bumper is pretty huge though so that's a huge part of the cost.

Maybe outweight the cost/benefit if they offer a weld-it-yourself option.

A bumper can be welded up the same day.

If it has a swingout or two, you can weld those up individually as the bumper itself sits to cool down.

I haven't bought any armor for my truck in years, but high freight rates have always been a thing. Maybe not that high that I've seen, but definitely something to be factored into price when comparing different brands. Its why so many people fanboy over their local fabricators. The best price for a bumper is the one from the company thats within reasonable driving distance from you, but thats not always the one you want unfortunately.

$1000 after shipping for a plate bumper isn't too bad when others cost $1400 before shipping and taxes.

I'm not up to speed on bumper costs nowadays.

Last welded bumper that I bought was a hair under $2k (picked up locally). Now it's $2.5k....would hate to see shipping on that, so what $3k total?

    Oof...

Does the company have a flat shipping rate per product? If so, maybe reach out to them and see if they can work with you on shipping costs. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a bumper order to have a flat rate shipping cost, or for skids to have a flat rate. I imagine that price you got was essentially stacking the shipping costs of both, even though it could all fit on the same pallet potentially. Only one way to find out; give em a call.

I drove down to Montana (12hr drive there, 12hr back) for my Front bumper (All-Pro) just to avoid shipping and duty. The only way to avoid duty is to install it before the border though.

I'm waiting on a shipping quote for bumpers, skids, sliders, and lights from Overland Outfitters, and if it's more than the price of gas to drive to the coast, then I guess I'm driving!

The 4XInnovations rear bumper is absolutely beautiful, and worth the extra shipping cost. IMO.

Yeah you can't beat the 4xinnovation front high clearance plate bumper. It's good looking and cheap. It's probably a little more than $700 now but it's still 100% worth it. I think Coastal has a pretty cheap DIY kit.

Coastal's kits are legit as hell; I run their front on my LC.

Check out Coastal Offroad. I just ordered their DIY rear bumper kit and shipping was around $130 for 2 day air shipping.

The volume of business that ARB does with shipping and freight companies I imagine is substantially greater than that of 4xInnovations and that makes a big difference.

I haven't gotten an accurate quote as the CBI rear bumper is still in transit (at the border?). I can't remember his name, but the guy I talked to told me around $600 but wasn't sure exactly.

Aha gotcha, yeah to be able to measure everything properly we need everything here. Okay, well let me know if you don't hear back, but if it's at the border you should hear back next week!

Gas is not so cheap in bc unfortunately, but a road trip is always fun! Let us know if you want us to install everything for you as well so you can have it on for the trip back!

I think when I am upgrading suspension, you're my guy. Geometry is scary and I like that you guys care about bushings, stronger cam tabs, etc.

But I'm honestly looking forward to the install the most haha. It would be like buying a Lego set pre built!
