The AT4 and ZR2 could end up being a built to order vehicle only. When dealers get their stock orders in they could move pretty fast and not see much of a discount.

The other trims could also be built in lower quantities making discounts rare. IDK how much pent up demand there is waiting for this new Canyon. I don't see GM building a lot of these trucks. If any of them sit in dealer's inventory for 6-12 months you might find a discount.

With the exception of Toyota, the other three don't seem to be building many midsize trucks. GM and Ford are currently at the end of their life cycle for their current midsize, which is keeping their production numbers down. Nissan is on their 2nd year of a new design. Retail truck sales are down, and people buy more trucks than any other class of vehicle. Not good for the manufacturers or consumers.

Hopefully GM succeeds with their new trucks. I always have felt great competition is for the greater good for all in the class (despite the majority of the tailgate topic states).

Regarding discounts there will always be dealers willing to discount. When inventory got crazy and normal F-150’s were over MSRP I found Granger Ford in Iowa doing 3% below invoice on an order. I saved $11,000 off MSRP on my truck and $13,000 compared to what my local dealer was willing to order one for. Even though quarter tons don’t demand $10,000 off I can still foresee $2,000-4,500 off with rebates on a AT4 or Z71. Perhaps not a ZR2 or AT4X as you mention makes sense.

Do you not see this strange war on fossil fuels that is going on? Some towns here in MA have already banned the use of fossil fuels in new and renovated buildings. They want everything to be electric even though most of our electricity comes from burning natural gas.

I've heard Granger is the place to go for a new F-150 order at a good price. If I was paying cash for a new truck and made time to go and take delivery of the truck. That's what I would do. I still wouldn't want to drive a new vehicle off the lot and back home. I'd imagine F-150 production is a more timely today, than a year or two ago, Ford still has to build the truck, before it can be purchased at a discount.

Chevy was offering some incentives on in stock 1500s, on top of what the dealership discount. Still above invoice, and I don't qualify for any of the additional incentives.

I'm interested in seeing what the new GM midsize trucks sell for.

Fossil fuels or nothing. That's the choice people are going to be left with.

Headlight switch is gone, it’s done in the infotainment like many other systems do in them now (AC, heated seats, AUX switches, etc). I leave mine in auto all the time, so it isn’t like I’ll miss it.

They’ll be eligible for discounts right out the gate depending on dealer.

If these trucks are equipped with auto highbeams will there be a way to deactivate the AHB? I don't like the AHB activating the highs when they are not needed.

I mean.. the high beams aren’t part of the off/running/on/auto switch in any vehicle I’ve ever been in so I’m not sure why that’s where you went with this. Check out a YouTube review? Only car I’ve had with auto beams turned them on only after I clicked my high beams on.

If you leave the lights on in the auto setting on in some Fords AHB is on. The headlights have to be in the ON postion/not Auto to cancel the AHB. I see many vehicles with AHB, and I presume that those vehicles are being driven with the lights switched to auto.

With out a headlight switch I'm thinking that AHB can't be turned off, at least with out going through a screen setting or some other software tool. Which sounds overly complicated, for something that can be controlled by a switch.

Not sure. It’s a non-issue on Colorado forums, and I’ve never heard of it before you. If it is, I’ll be the same thing as the port tools that allow software mods on start (like defeating auto stop start, cylinder deactivation, etc).

The current trucks most likely don't have AHB. That's good that a port tool can deactivate certain features. Installing a functional 4 way headlight switch is the best solution, IDK but the trucks might come with a headlight switch. The last time I was in a GM truck, the headlights csme on automatically, and you could turn them off including the DRL temporarily at the switch. I kind of recall being able to activate the just the parking lights when the truck was in park. The oldest was a 98, and the latest being a 2019.

They (Cali) want us to go full electric and not use NG to heat our homes and some Bay Area towns are refusing new permits to build gas stations.

That can't sound like a good idea to anyone who was sitting under 2' or more of snow two weeks ago.

If you were the owner of the one or two gas stations in small towns here, you’re loving it because you can jack fuel prices up like crazy

I have had AHB on a few other vehicles and none really execute well. Most of the time I get flashed (not in a good way either) from oncoming drivers because the system isn’t recognizing the light soon enough. I like how Toyota puts the auto switch on the left side. My dads GMC Sierra has it on the turn signal end which is even better (took me a while to find it though).

I don't think I have seen a AHB system that works well. That's based from on coming traffic and driving vehicles equipped with AHB. This is why I think being able to disable that feature is the most important component of the system.

How well do they work at recognizing when it's time to dim to low beam?

Edit unless those lights can recognize a vehicle coming around a corner. They aren't any better.

There's some cool matrix reflection going on in there that's for sure.
