WeatherTech Window Deflector Question

I‘ve had a full set of these window deflectors, front and rear, for about a year and a half now. My front deflectors are great but the rear ones tend to fall out as if there’s not enough friction up there to keep them installed. Each of the rears have fallen out and I’m lucky I haven’t lost them.

Has anyone else experienced this challenge and have any ideas on how to resolve the issues? No, I haven’t contacted WeatherTech and first wanted to get the real information from actual users.

 

If you want to keep them in there permanently use a small amount of gorilla glue. Close the windows for two days them suckers will never come off again. I did this on a ChevyI had, the front passenger side kept falling off.

 

accessories like these are like getting a new dog- if they don't come back home on their own the first time, don't chase em, they'll keep doing the same thing their whole life.

 

I would try some adhesive that you can easily remove, like rubber cement. Odd they fall out I have the front ones and they went in the window frames so tight I was afraid they would break when I was installing them.

The rear weather techs come with a bracket that installs into the weather stripping and holds them in place. They don’t use friction, pressure or adhesives…

 

Correct, and I installed them. Unfortunately the deflector still falls out over time. The front ones work perfectly but they are aided by the additional vertical element of the deflector.

 

Maybe some strategically placed double back adhesive tape?

 

When installed correctly there isn’t a way for them to “fall out” really. Are the clips coming out too?
The hand drawn diagram in this thread helped me when I was having trouble with mine. Haven’t had any issues since I got them in the right position.
I’d double check the clips before glueing anything into the channel personally

For sure! I hope it’s as simple as repositioning the clips. For whatever reason videos and instructions weren’t helping me, but that crude diagram made it click for me.
If that’s not the issue I’d stick with some sort of very thin double sided tape as I’d be concerned with adding thickness to the visor which already makes the window fit in the channel pretty snug

 

Based on the picture in the link there’s a chance I didn’t install that clip correctly. I actually don’t remember how I did it and I’m assuming I followed the provided directions but because it hasn’t been working I’m fairly positive I didn’t do it correctly. Thanks to you guys I’ll get it corrected this afternoon.

 

The rear ones really suck. I did lose one on the highway, but it fell back into the truck so I was able to put it back in.
I'm really glad I went back to the old stick-on AVS version for my newer truck.

 

AVS is what I have, so far so good.

 

I've had no problems with my WeatherTecs. Then again, I have an AC.

 

I have the fronts on my 2020 and had both the front and rears on my 2018. Didn't like the looks of the rears, they almost seem out of place with the fronts, thus I didn't replace the back ones. Looks better, IMHO, without. Never had an issue with the rears other than the looks.

 

Well, come to find out I did have the clips installed correctly. That’s a bummer because I was hoping for the easy fix. My driver side rear deflector basically drops right out of the window while the passenger side holds fairly well. So, I just placed a few small strips of black/thick double sided tape. Let’s see what happens.

BTW, I like to discreetly roll the windows down when I have our dog in the back while we leave her in the back.

I bought mine at a local store and the guy gave me a tip. Pry the clips open a little bit. Like stick two fingers into the gap and like crowbar it just a little. It should then sit flush on the deflector and hold it nicely. I have an issue with the front ones where if I roll it down a little, the window kind of rubs it so when I hit little bumps it squeaks lol. Weathertech customer service gave me tips to remedy the issue where the auto roll up feature is hindered so it should be in the right spot. Do you also have this issue?
