Is there a way to find out if this truck had keyless entry from the factory?

I bought it as a basket case needing an engine so I’ve never driven it.

Yea some of the older ones were easy like that but almost every modern vehicle requires dash removal for evaporator and/or heater core replacement.
Dodge trucks from the early 2000s to 2016 or so are the easiest ones, I can have the whole dash laying on the seat in under an hour.

I’m going to try and take the wire out of the connector so I could install some heat shrink.

Is there a trick/special tool to remove the wire from the connector?

Most can be de-pinned with a pick and/or tiny flat screwdriver.
The file below shows how to de-pin many of the Toyota connectors.
Make sure you only do 1 pin at a time and remember where it goes.

Upon closer inspection, I was looking at the wrong white plug. I think I have the door lock receiver mounted under the dash.

Oh wow - so you did do it yourself. Best of luck on the job.

As for the alarm connections - I'd do something like that years ago, preferably with heat shrink tubing. But I'd always document it with a printed copy in the vehicle. I had to so something 20 or so years ago to my son's Dodge Dakota when his headlights weren't working, along with documentation in the truck and on my PC.

Amazing photo - and the seats out! I respect you two and anyone who has done this. And any good mechanic for that matter.
