Rough Country Vertex coilovers???

A little more than a year with absolutely no problems...and, while not doing anything hard core, they have not been babied.

 

I have blown my 2nd vertex . For some reason it's only been the driver side rear. Luckily 4wp has insurance for products. I called them Friday and had to claim warranty. They said they will have the new ones ordered Monday .

 

That sucks! At least, it sounds like, they are taking care of you. Regardless, there would come a time for me where I would run out of patience, having the same failure repeating.

 

Just took them off of my truck and will be posting them on offer up soon. I replaced them with Bilstein 6112 & 5160 shocks. I found out the hard way that a 3.5" lift on a V6 is like almost a 6" lift on a 4 banger.

 

Im looking into getting these, been doing a lot of research. What was your experience?

 

Mine have been fine for over a year now. Our trucks are dogs, and has nothing to do with 3.5” of lift. With larger tires you either need new gears or tune the truck. The shocks themselves are good for daily driving and occasional off roading

 

with the 6112 & 5160's? I've only had them on for a few weeks but I like them so far. Great for daily driving, they're a little firmer than my stock SR5 suspensions and softer than the vertex.

 

I agree that these are solid shocks and good for daily driving however in my situation it was definitely 3.5" of lift that was the issue. I put them on a access cab 4 banger which is way lighter than a double cab v6. It resulted in the front being lifted close to 6". The front end had little to no down travel and the rear end had maybe 3" inches of up travel. Any time i would drive over rough terrain or even speed bumps i would top out my front end while simultaneously bottom out on the rear end.

what front bumper is that? Do they make it for third gens?

 

C4 Hybrid and yes!

 

How long was the lead time for your bumper from them?!

 

I think about 4-6 months I believe but during Covid though.

 

Just got mine installed really like the ride went with 295’s no rub. Went with a block in the back but about to get a add a leaf.

 

Facts... regearing to 4.88's with an OV Tune was a GAME CHANGER

 

Are you a manual transmission?

 

Nope... Auto... kind of wish I went with the 5.29's... but the 4.88's and the Tune... the AT holds gears SO much better.
Overall drivability is so much better, I run 34" tires for reference.
I believe that manuals are geared with 4.30 rear ends stock vs the automatic at 3.91...

 

yeah usually the manuals go with 4.88 and the autos go with 5.29 so I was just curious.

 

I was a little bit worried to go that low. I do daily drive my truck and I didn't want to be running crazy RPM's at higher speeds.
My fears were probably overblown. I should have just gone for it. But the 4.88 are legit and do make a huge difference.
I would argue the regearing was my most important upgrade. I actually think 4.88's would make a stock truck run better.

 

what about with 33’s? 5.29 would be better?
