Just enough to look kinda cool.
Why have I never thought of trucks on the island… do y’all just have straight trucks or full tractor trailers?

92 378 dump truck and 2020 389 heavy wrecker. Driving both of them I think I prefer my older dump truck, just something about the old iron.944967A2-E154-42B8-935E-2C78BFBC96C1.jpg

    Common misconception, it’s alright
We’ve got everything except steerable RGNs as far as I can recall. Today I was hauling 20 yards of sludge to the local landfill with the hooklift, tomorrow and Sunday will be moving some equipment with the 3-axle lowboy. Only good thing about the island I’m located on is no DOT enforcement. This island only has about 100-150 miles of usable road for trucks, so driving logs are non-existent. It’s not uncommon to have guys drive 8-12 hours during the day delivering freight, then do another 6-8 hours at night in a dump truck for night paving.

Reminds me of a funny stupid driver story...

Back in the day when I worked at Western Express I was sitting with my dispatcher talking about stupid drivers when he got a phone call... He put it on hold then told me ''case in point'' he took it off hold and asked the driver to repeat himself... He proceeded to ask '' I'm approaching a sign that says 12'7'' clearance... Ll I fit?'' My dispatcher replied '' why don't you try it out and let me know,'' then hung up. 2 minutes later he called back and said... ''Nope... Didn't make it''
    I miss my Pete.

There's a Midwest freight terminal across the street from where I work. I saw a truck pulling in their yard with the whole front bulkhead laying in the trailer and the roof was gone! I bet that guy was pulling in the yard for the last time.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I never have done this or even come close.

Yet I had a dream about doing just this. Woke and took a minute to remember just where I was.

It's 41 degrees here this morning, supposed to be in the 50s today. It'll be nice with the window down.
    Have a good one drivers.

    3 tires in 24 hour… I’m on a streak here.
First tire I blew yesterday morning after I picked up after my first load so dumped that out and then sat at the tire shop for 2 hours. Then the second trip on that replacement tire and it blows going down the highway and takes my mud flap with it. So it’s the end of the day and boss says just bring it back to the shop we’ll deal with it overnight. Well I get to work today and doing my pre trip and the last tire I’m kicking… flat 3rd tire in 24 hours. Hopefully trouble only comes in 3’s for me.

Just picked up my truck after over a month. Windshield is cracked. Stone chip that has been there forever has decided to grow. Clutch pedal is fucked, engages as soon as you start to let up, has no travel at all. I hate this fucking repair company.
