That track was weird. Parts of it were like a hamster maze.

Webb was correct. Does he get the win taken away too or just a points deduction?

Smith has been doing this all season with Deeg, just let it get to his head and took himself out finally.

I get rules are rules, sucks for Chase though. He cleared the red cross flag and dumb ass Dean riding backwards on the track before he chose to hit the big double. I wonder if the penalty would have been as severe had Coop not brought it up on the big screen? Kinda a Karen move after getting run down and beat straight up, but that's racing.

I'm a Chase fan and it was still difficult to celebrate that win after AP fumbled it away. Chase has been doing the same thing all year, but AP is still chasing that first W.

    Anyway, onto Seattle.

I liked it. I thought for sure someone was gonna lose a race in the turn before the finish. Looks like only Jordan Smith lost the LCQ transfer, otherwise it was a clean night.

So pros get bonuses for heat race wins. It's not as black and white as just a gate pick for the main. I'll stand by my statement that J Smith has been disrespecting Deeg all season. Deegan annoys me just as much as the next guy, but seeing him let off in the turns so he can bang bars with a bully is good for racing.

Pretty wild night. Eli seems off still to me. Not sure what's going on. Webb and Chase looked really good. Bummer about the cross flag but there is a video floating around and it was waving as Chase entered the turn for that section. Plus he gained a huge amount over Webb there and Webb noticed. So Keeping the win with a point reduction is pretty standard. Still a bummer though.

As far as the 250 drama, to me Deegs needs to not play games right there. If he wants to get back Smith for something prior, then do it while passing. But he was getting caught and passed and was looking back and stopping mid corner and racing backwards. That's bs stuff, especially to a teammate. People keep saying it's an individual sport, which is correct but if you don't think Bobby Ragen (Star team owner) was pissed off, then you'd be wrong. Rider's still get paid to represent the Team/Brand and that was clown stuff (by both guys.) So yes, it matters. It's just something you don't do. That being said, Smith should've known better than to try to spear him in that scenario (where he ended up going down.) Just let-off and pass in an appropriate spot. He had the speed to clear him. A veteran should know when/how to pass and not force that move, with emotion. Then get in his face afterwards at the truck or whatever, if you need to (which if I were him I would have.) And I think everything from that point on, he just let his mind runaway and got too excited. He tends to do that anyways, but given everything that happened, I think he just made some choices in panic. Even that last move on Chamber(?) for the last LCQ spot. You can't pass on the outside right there.

Deegan rode a nice race in the main though, same with Thrasher. As far as what Hunter said in the presser, I agree with his overall statement. But keep that same outlook when someone does it to you. That goes for Deegan also, since he "agreed." Hunter is a hot-head and he was accused of aggressive riding a bit recently, so some of that was charged by his recent outings, not just strictly sticking up for Deegan. So if someone cleans them out, then I expect the same attitude. It's easy to make that statement on their current side of things. Just my opinion.

Eli had something going on with his neck the last two races.
It will be interesting to see what the Deegans say about Detroit on their YouTube channel. I think the kid will be a great racer but he needs to learn how to act and speak in public. Acting like a punk and a douche at interviews is not going to win fan’s or respect.

I thought the track was going to be boring. Man that was a lot of passing and position changes for a 450 main. Poor AP. He had it in his hands. The last laps are hard even if you are up front. Kenny last week even had a slight slip.

That Deegan / Jsmith heat race was spicy. Jordan definitely has some beef with him. As a viewer it seems like both 2 of those guys have to figure out how they want to ride and talk. Jordan does seems to crash a lot though when he pushes hard. Fun to watch. That's why the 250s are fun to watch. You know mistakes will be made. Good battles even though they aren't the cleanest.

Ya I know the neck thing was an issue last week but this week he said it was a non-factor in his performance. I dunno. He just looked so lively early on and lately it just seems like he lost a bit of juice.

If Deegan is getting paid a whole lot more than the rest of Star's 250 racers it would
create animosity among teammates. The whole social media aspect of the Deegans is
out of control. Yeah Star is making money thanks to all the peeps buying their mechandise.
But dang the pits are out of control. And I'm sure all the teammates hearing people scream
Deegan all night long gets old. Shit I don't even think peeps care about Eli now. Double edge
sword having 238 on your team. Kid can ride and it will be interesting to see how his career
turns out. At some point I would like to see him focus less on social media and more on racing. :bikewhoops:

The family probably makes way more money off of YouTube than they will off of racing. It’s got to be a big distraction for the team though.

I kinda got the vibe that Thrasher sided with Deegan based on the interview I posted. I have nothing to back the assumption, but the way he and Hunter smirked/laughed at the response makes me think J Smith may not be well liked in the Star Yami pit. Again, purely speculation. :tinfoilhat:

I was going to post this too. When Nate leaned over and smirked because Deegan said the quiet part out loud...I laughed.

The end of the latest Deegan video has some of the press conference at the end. They’re making a joke about it. Hopefully Smith let’s it go.
James Stewart has a video about it too basically saying it’s not a big deal.

Deegan's contract through Star wouldn't be significantly more money than the others. He technically is still on his Am to Pro contract. And once he turns pro (which is now), I think it's 2 years in the pros before he would need re-signed (probably after next season.) So nothing with his contract would be an issue with anyone. He makes more through their social media and other things, which are outside of the team. And that stuff is out of anyone's control. So while those teammates may find it annoying, at least he isn't getting more money or anything as far as within the team. Deegan does his own merch which has nothing related to Star or Yamaha on it. And Star only sells logo merch (with no riders) on their own website. Eli as of right now if the only team rider who has merch at the races that also has the Star logo (and those shirts sell like crazy.) He also has merch on his own that does not have anything team related. The rest of the guys if they have anything it's their own stuff that they only sell on their own site (no team / Star logos etc.) Like Kitchen for example has some stuff. None of the guys selling their own merch want to give anyone else a cut, so they normally have simple designs or designs that they don't have to approve through another brand etc (which is understandable.)

It's interesting to see how things go. I agree that at some point, Deegan might need to tone down the social media a bit and focus on racing. But in a way, that may be more important to him than racing. It's a different dynamic as his life on social media since he was a small kid, has gotten him more fame (and maybe $) than a lot of the guys who have been Champions in the sport. So it will be interesting to see how his career plays out. And also, he doesn't need racing. But a lot of these other guys sacrifice everything to make it. So will he be committed to the grind etc? Tough to say. Right now he has looked great but he hasn't been knocked around or faced adversity yet. That'll be when we find out, once everything isn't all fun and games.
