I try to look at all things. Was I happy losing Quickie...absolutely not. I think long term and for the rest of this season I think getting 2 good players for 1 aging player was worth it. Quick is 4-0 with Vegas, but has blown two leads in the 3rd, like had with the Kings. VGK has been able to bail him out in 2 of those games. VGK was up 4-1 in the 3rd and by the end before the empty netter it was 4-3. So lets not act like Quick has suddenly become an A lister goalie. VGK has just been better in front of Quick than the Kings were.

All good points. And I get why he made the move, based on team needs / performance. I think it's a clown move by the franchise, however. You can't give Dustin Brown a statue but dump JQ to Columbus. So on that front, I didn't like it. JQ was bad this year but I'm also not shocked that he is doing so well in Vegas. He's dropped off but if he us in the right headspace, he could maybe finish the year strong. But he probably would be best to call it quits after this year.

Crap move by the Kings, but I think JQ saying he isn't retiring at the end of the year + his performance this year, meant we had to make a move. JQ will get a statue and get his number retired whenever he decides to hang up the pads. I was talking to my VGK friend and he is happy the way JQ has been playing, he is worried that JQ will go back to the numbers he had on the Kings. I think Vegas has a better system that mask Goalie inefficiencies. Even he brought up how well their AHL call ups have been before they got injured.

I agree on all of that. And as much as I love JQ, I am also not sure if his performance is sustainable, even thought Vegas is "goalie friendly." It's weird because when Cal first was looking good, Quick struggled. And then when LA was ready to hand the key over to Cal, he just plummeted. And Quick actually played decent last year to make up for it. But this year, for some reason, he was almost unplayable and that was on a pretty good LA team.

His playstyle is outdated too, which makes it tough. It's like a modified version (adding in RVH) of how I played (and I was coached in the 90s lol.) It's such a reactionary style that relies on reflexes and aggression, rather than positioning and percentages, like 99% of other goalies in the league now. It's just really tough to play that style in todays game, late into your career. Him and Fleury are 2 of the best ever, to play that way, but both have been up and down, depending on the situation.

For sure with JQ and MAF playing the same style. Super fun to watch but they are definitely getting too old to play that style. Thing with JQ, when he is on, he's on. When he is cold, he lets in a lot of soft goals

Thanks for the English lesson in a Hockey thread. But you're correct in my incorrect usage. Kings still tied for 1st

Pens love to surprise everyone with impressive wins, after getting beat down. It's like either an impressive win or a horrific loss. Such a weird year.

It's all about the goaltending, at both ends. Last Night, Colorado's goalie was average and Jarry played well. In the game against the Sens, the Pens dominated, but that rookie goalie stood on his head and Jarrry let the winner in. The games prior to the Ottawa game saw NYR (2X) and Habs scoring 6,4 and 6. Can't win given up that many.

Ya that is true to an extent but in that Pens game I was just sitting there like "how are they making this nobody goalie look like he's in the HOF?" The Pens have a tendency to do that. I don't always buy into the excuse that we got stone-walled. Sometimes if you have some net presence and whatnot, you can change that around. And we don't, a lot of the time. But not totally taking credit away from that guy. He made some big saves. And yes, our goaltending has been spotty at best. I still like both guys but I expected more consistency this year from them.
