Hey Connecticut, our backs hurt

Good morning CT and surrounding areas. A lot of stuff done yesterday, hopefully more of that today. Doing more tests. Made a cheat sheet because I failed the brake test multiple times.

First day of Spring is tomorrow.

 

Drove down to north Jersey shore to pick up a new to me (used) toy yesterday. Sail or paddle or peddle. Had a Hobie catamaran for 9 years a little while back and miss the sailing. My 14 yo actually said he wants to learn how to sail now.

 

Guessing that's for Highland Lake

But good news is it's getting easier to access the hybrid packs than it used to be.

This guy is a bit of a nut, but there is some good knowledge of hybrid shared on the channel.

no 20 minute+ recharge. No range worries. Better weight layout for better driving experience than the ICE twin.
They just make a lot of sense at a reasonable premium compared to the nutty surcharge a full electric demands at purchase.

That all said - I'm really not sure I'll buy another.
I like the value of a high mileage vehicle & hybrids can be a real PIA when things start getting wonky.

That looks a fun ride. Can it be a dual passenger device, or solo only?
I tried to learn sailing - found out I'm 'like, THE BEST EVAH' capsizer.

 

I'm not saying they are too complicated that I can't work on them, it's just they are adding more stuff to them making the systems more involved. I felt it's always been easy to access the hybrid packs. The newer cars will be harder to access as you'll need a lift of some sort to lift the battery into place (the cars with the battery mounted underneath the car).

I've seen the YouTube page and watched a couple videos. Does the guy never wear the proper safety equipment or am I missing something?

 

Ordered the rest of the stuff for my lift this morning. Headstrong 3 Leaf AAL, 1/2" block, OME carrier bearing drop, front Taco-Lean spacer, and front swaybar mount drop. Hopefully the AAL is still in stock. Put the summer tires on and gave it a thorough wash yesterday including "Salt Away" on everything underneath and under the hood followed by a hot water rinse. That stuff seemed to work well, the salt just melted away.

Yes mainly for highland lake. Probably will take it for a spin in little Narragansett bay on the CT / RI border a couple of times this summer.

 

This is a one person design. Hobie has discontinued this model (adventure island) but still sell their tandem island which is a bit longer and has two seats. They do sell trampolines for the outriggers (aka amas) which would allow you to carry more people.
