    enough to have fun
I worked for a reseller and taught all the classes to earn all my certs and used it professionally so it made sense to own. If you have a business you can get a year as an entrepreneurship license if the business physically makes something which is a great program they offer too

Anyone running a home NAS? I have an old computer sitting there doing nothing and I'm thinking of slapping in some drives and booting up trueNAS or something. Not looking for a shitload of storage, but 10+ tb would be nice to backup videos, photos, music libraries etc. I started doing more youtube videos and I'm running out of space quickly on my desktop with all that adding up and hoping to archive some off-computer.

I was thinking the old computer plus three 6tb drives (seems to be a sweet spot there for price/gb) running trueNAS would fit the bill and allow me to run raid 5 (i think?) and meet storage goals without breaking the bank.

Anything big I'm missing or going down the totally wrong boat? I'm trying to avoid a mycloud or something similar.

    Yeah.
I'm running Unraid on a box that I slapped together from spare parts and bought some large (but relatively cheap) drives for. I use it for backups and run a Pihole docker image that serves as the home network DNS, blocking ads and tracking. Pretty simple to set up, boots from a USB stick.

I have an Unraid box. Its simple and works. I do quite a few dockers in it. TrueNAS is fine but if you want mixed size drives it can be a bit funky compared to Unraid (which just needs largest drive for parity).

Im mostly with Unraid just cause Ive been with them for like 10+ year lol

Question for you guys. What makes your mouse stutter? Like it gets stuck then jumps across all 3 screens. It will do this for a minute then it works as usual.

I have this problem with every computer at work lol. Or at least I think I know what you're talking about; do you mean with no input from you, the mouse icon jumps across a huge distance, or it freezes for a second/maybe mouse icon disappears, you shake it violently, and it eventually shows back up 3 screens down? lol

When I am moving it. It will lock up, then you move the mouse around and nothing, then poof its 3 screens over. Quite annoying.

    Yeah.
Mine was acting odd, like slow, and I found that there was a dog hair stuck in the place where the optical sensor is. Your problem sounds like there are some other system interrupts occurring that are queuing up mouse interrupts -- once those other interrupts are handled, it processes all the mouse interrupts at once. Maybe a bug in the mouse driver, or some other lower-level driver on your PC is janky. Or a hardware issue. What kind of mouse are you using? Wired, wireless, ?

Never had this happen before since I have been using them. This is my second one (the other is at the house, so it never went bad on me).

Not yet, since its my work computer its admin locked. Which is stupid, IMO, but I understand why they do it.
It's not my only issue. When I am running blue beam, and make a text box, the typing lags like a sob. I'll stop typing and the text box is still catching up.
And I know I have enough memory and RAM so not sure what the deal is.

    Yeah.
Ah, sounds like they have some security software that is capturing things at a low level real-time.

    Yeah.
Probably not, outside of complaining to the company's IT people. Change the mouse batteries? If they have things admin locked, you likely can't disable things or update drivers. You may be able to set it to where the touch pad is disabled when the mouse is connected, which will avoid possibly some mixed signals.

Solved the problem, actually I solved several. I managed to get the admin password  and I ended up getting another logitech MX Master 3 mouse, replaced the dongle and synched the keyboard and mouse up. The glitch is gone. I'm thinking the dongle went bad or something in the old mouse.
Put the old mouse back in the new box and will take it back to staples as faulty. Refund.

Well kiddo and I started unboxing stuff for his PC build and the dang Corsair AIO radiator is super bent and has to be returned/replaced. Amazon had us waiting 2 weeks to get it and it is unusable.

I thought about an air cooler but I’ve had a Corsair H60 AIO in my current system for years without an issue. Figured I’d stick with something similar for the new build. Amazon just slapped a label on the Corsair package, there was no outer packaging or bubble wrap or anything. What a waste of a good piece of hardware.
