Is there an effective way to clean the upper air intake manifold?

I bought a 2007 DCLB 4x4 that needed a new engine after the previous owner drove too fast through standing water and hydrolocked it.

I’m putting the finishing touches on the new engine before I install it in the truck, and noticed the upper intake has some crud in it.

Is there a way to clean it out? I’m a bit nervous about missing something and having a brand new engine ingest it.

Penetrating fluid cleans that really well and it will actually “soak” and absorb the mess.

Most use acetone so it’s safe to use and slightly less harmful to spray compared to intake cleaner and brake clean.

The acetone works great for any area I can reach. I put my endoscope inside and it seems like there’s still small particles.

It would be really nice if this intake could be split apart.

Here’s a pic of the TB for reference of the trauma this poor Taco suffered.

I sold my 3rd gen after seeing one flooded (16000$) and decided to never cross a river in my daily driver again lol.

This guy was driving on the road, but just hit a patch of standing water and created a large splash.

I think the cut inner fenders (to prevent rubbing on the 295’s) led to the water easily making it into the fender and air intake.
