I love the hood scoop too. That’s why I got the Sport.
These were mild, well-maintained dirtroads with potholes no more than 6” deep and some mud, so no issues. Buttery-smooth throughout the entire 3 miles or so.
My son made fun of me and told me he has driven his Miata over much worse, with summer tires…
I will get A/T tires next summer. I used to have a 2x4 2-Gen with A/T tires and I took that truck to many off-road sites and never had a problem.
Next weekend I am going back with the wife and her 4-Runner to try a rocky, uphill tract and a couple of sandy spots (hard-consolidated) I saw. I’ll get me one of those kinnetic recovery ropes just in case, and apply physics (momentum) Lol

That was Saturday at the “Skull Valley overlook”. Only about 3 miles or so up the trail…….there was some snow in the shady parts of the trail and on the hillsides.

Ok, that makes sense, it's facing west. I was 1.5 miles from there on Copper Basin Rd and was in quite a bit of snow and muddy roads. Hope you enjoyed you visit to our beautiful little town.

Are you running any front fender liners since you cut the fenders?

Yes, I re-used the factory fender liners with some makeshift brackets. I'll get the C4 high clearance fender liners at some point, they weren't around when I first trimmed the fenders but they're a better and cleaner solution.

Gotcha, I was thinking about doing the same since the C4 kit is $$$$

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Another snow day. Short trip 21km up Peachland Main to Headwater lakes and another 14km past up higher. Could not get higher than that, the snow is getting wet and no traction in the deeper stuff. Just ATV tracks up there.

Five foot of snow on the ground, and over 3 foot ice on the lakes. Slides are starting and I imagine the road will soon be blocked at several spots. Risky driving over the next few weeks up there as there are truck sized rocks barely held up and a quick melt will bring some down.

Not a single pullout to stop for lunch as the snow is up to 8 foot high on roadside, and too narrow to leave it parked. A logging truck or other big rig would not fit past most spots.

Many years ago, me and a buddy are on a winter steelhead fishing trip up to Big Silver Creek, east side of Harrison lake. Deep snow all the way up. We did manage to park his truck sideways on a slope with room to spare for a logging trucks to pass, and then hiked off to go fish.

End of day walking 2 miles back we get to his Toyota pickup, and a big rig towing an earth mover had carved his entire driver side of the truck right off, but above the tires so it was still driveable. We caught the guy, and he paid for all new driver side front and rear quarter panels, driver side door, and all lights. Plus repaint the entire truck. So yeah, parking on narrow trails in in BC can be risky.

Still, a nice drive today. Lower couple of miles is muddy and melting fast. In a week or two it will be an ugly mudpit for those bottom miles. Snow up top will be there until end of May or later.

Yup, lots of people getting way over their heads. I have seen those posts, and it is common for those not prepared or who overestimate their capabilities. Today, I reversed out of 3 spots rather than attempt to go on. No point going on, plenty of snow to be found without pushing it. Even ATV and snowmobiles needing rescues.

Me, every day trip I bring 3 days worth of food and water, a ton of first aid, wood for fires, and lots of spare clothing. Plus a fully loaded backpack so I can hike out if needed. Plus my toolbox is jammed with every piece of rescue gear imaginable, and chainsaw. I do solo trips each time, so I don’t skip the necessities.

Folks don't realize how much the crust weakens by mid afternoon. Probably the last time I HAD to chain up was late afternoon returning from a job site.

I try my damnedest to have an early start and be out by mid day.

Yeah the crust is deceiving. If it is deep underneath then you get stuck.

Once I saw the slides starting today and large boulders on the road, I knew I had to get out early too so as to not get stuck behind a bigger slide. Some ugly spots up there. It was +7c at that time, melting fast.
