Looks so naked. I decided to finally pull the sliders off and touch them up.

I kinda like it. If it wasn't a pain in the ass, I would be tempted to just put them on for trips. I am tempted to start pulling them off in the fall.

Side note - does anyone know how to remove fluid film? I'd like to clean off the old stuff before I put on a fresh coat and put the sliders back on. I probably won't be putting them back for a couple of weeks, but I might putts with it some next weekend.

I have used engine cleaner and a scrub brush. . Basically any good degreaser should do it but the mechanical scrubbing is necessary to work through the layer of dirt attached to the fluid film.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Not being a smart ass, genuine question, why do you want to remove it? Only reason I ask is one of the videos that sold me on fluid film was a guy with an old Cherokee who was doing a review. He said he never would remove a layer, he would just add a new layer each fall. He picked a spot on the frame and scraped through the layers and it was beautiful underneath. That being said, a pressure washer set on the smallest degree that's not the "drill a hole" setting will take a good chunk of it off if held close.

    Thank you!

This is under the mounting plates for the rock sliders, so I just want to get any dirt or debris out before I reinstall them. I was thinking that if anything is between there, it could potentially cause it to rust underneath. I could be overthinking it, though. :notsure:

Really don't have to remove the old fluid film. Last time I had my sliders off I just wiped off any clumps of dirt and applied fresh FF to the frame and the part of the sliders that touches the frame. But I can see where you'd like to start fresh. That crap doesn't like to come off good luck ;)

It seems like it would be hard to get the dirt out without removing it entirely. Maybe I'll try hitting it with the pressure washer and see if that gets the dirt out of it. If it works, then I'll just spray on some more and send it.

But, have a while to figure it out, as I'm thinking about removing the top plates from the sliders, and I definitely need to do some rust removal and recoat them.

Maybe my sliders sit tighter to the frame because I barley had any dirt in-between. But I coat it thick on the frame and the slider mounting plate. Maybe that's enough to create a "seal" so to speak.

If you do pressure wash use hot water it will help soften and removal.

Could be. They have been on there since like March or April of 2019, though. There's not a lot, I just thought it might be easier to get everything off then to try to clean the dirt off the fluid film. Film. Plus, I was kind of thinking about trying woolwax this time around. Decisions, decisions. :D

I switched from Fluid Film to Woolwax on my last application. I actually prefer the woolwax now. There are areas around the tires FF got washed off over the course of winter. Woolwax is still going strong in those same areas this winter. I'd say give it a shot your next application.

I'm on year 3 of woolwax with high pressure washes every week in the winter and there is still a pretty thick layer left.
Each year I only need a couple spots touched up, usually the control arms and diff.

Another vote for wool wax here. Plus it sprays on black and doesn't really have an odor to it, at least not to me.

That's what I did when I re-installed mine. I had them off to touch up the paint before winter, not that it helped. The rattle can bed liner works for shizz. I brushed on a think coat of fluid film on both the frame and the mating surface of the sliders.

I also made sure to spray them really heavy when I sprayed on a fresh coat of FF on the underside of the truck.
