    No lift.

2 Jack stands. You needs to get the whole front end up because you need to push the sway bar down out of the way, otherwise you could do one side at a time but you can’t. The video doesn’t make that real clear.

I also had some issues getting the tie rods out and back in….a lot of banging with a hammer and then some twisting while tightening back up. All things you can overcome on your own though.

Need an angle grinder or cutoff tool for sure. I used an angle grinder.

Any site recommendations? Either way looks like with 2” or less or the extra lowering besides sway bar isn’t completely necessary. Thanks all

I bought the 4 shocks assembled with OME springs from a guy locally that decided to go a different direction before he even installed them but for around $830 you can get the shock set from Headstrong then add a 2" block or for like $1050 you can get an assembled kit with their 3 Leaf add a leaf setup. I just ordered that leaf set up from them today. They're a member here and very helpful in answering messages.

Yes, the block will. The rear shocks are just for a better ride (and a little more droop for the off road guys).

I echo rock lobsters comments about aal. I did blocks and wish I had spent more for AALs

do you have pictures of the 2” spacer installed on your truck? Is the spacer actually 2” or is it the 1” spacer that gives you 2” of lift.

Curious why you had the tie rod ends off? Also was the angle grinder for trimming the rear U-bolts or is there something on the front that I'm not thinking of?

They need to get out of the way to remove the shock.

When placing a 1” block in top of the shock tower, the factory bolt sticks out about 1/4” (it’s a cone shaped). They had to be ground flat for the newly placed block to seat flat. Then yes, about 2-3”’has to come off the too long rear u bolts.

see pic, imagine a 1” block setting down on top of that, the little cone piece sticks out

Ah, OK. I wasn't thinking of a big spacer up front.

On the front…1” will give you 2”.

On the back, it’s 1:1 with blocks

Sure, here you go. Excuse all the sand, I was out on the beach with the truck a bunch recently. It’s a 2” spacer.

    This is the product page:

It’s great for mall crawling but I’m upgrading to bilsteins soon because I do take the truck off road pretty frequently.

Which springs do you have on those bad boys? They look too shiny and long to be the stock springs lol

The 6112s are fatter than stock shocks, so they come with their own coils.

Oohh I thought you had the 5100’s. My bad
    :anonymous:

I assume those are stiffer/rougher ride on the pavement than the stock suspension?

Both the 6112 and 5100 are what I'd call more firm than stock. How much more depends on your stock trim level (SR5/TRD Sport/TRD OR)

Awesome, thanks for the info. I had seen a few people say that but I was wondering if it’s subjective. I assume not since everyone agrees it’s more firm. I have an SR5.

They're almost a Jekyll and Hyde shock, but both in a good way.
Around town and over small bumps they're about as firm as the Sport if not a hair more so. But they loosen up on the rough washboard. And their rebound is fantastic- it neither pogos (dolphin bounce) nor chatters (skips from stonetop to stonetop). It takes the hit and plants the wheel back down to ground supernaturally fast, giving a very confident, responsive ride over most surfaces.

The compromise is that it's not a Baja shock -it doesn't do extreme hits at high speed. It's one or the other, big hits or highway speed. On the other side, small his at slow speed is why people call it stiff.

I've been super happy with the 6112/5160 combo. Unless you are looking for an off-road only shock or are on an extreme budget, I'd say it's one of the best buys for the price range.
