Had the same issues after lifting 2.5" with Dakar mediums. Truck also vibed at stock height when decelerating around 5 to 10 mph. Lifting made it worse and I also vibed on around 65 mph when decelerating. Tried carrier bearing spacer first which did nothing. Going into 4wd did not do anything, vibes were still there. Installed 3 degree axle shims and it fixed everything.

@CrustyComa what were your wheel hub to fender measurements (all 4 corners)?

@Audiominer you had the shim decline facing towards front of truck and turned them around so it declines towards the back of truck and that fixed it? What were your wheel to hub measurements.

I am also going through the same issue here.

Lifted my tacoma with 2" spacers in the front, now I have a vibration around 20-45mph.

I am afraid to replace the needle bearing since where I am right now probably don't have the tools to do it.

What would be the next option to solve this vibration?

    Thanks!

Where'd you get the 3 deg shim? Need this for my truck, tractions bars helped but didn't eliminate vibes.

would you please explain why would it go away on 4hi?

if the front wheel bearing is bad shouldn’t it keep vibrating?

Not the person you asked but I got a set slotted set from @HeadStrong Off-Road. Made install pretty easy. That said, if you have OEM U bolts, you’ll need to either shave the sides or remove the front u bolt to install the shims. If you remove the u bolt you’ll know the shin will never slip out. I’ll also add that with a 3° shim the nub from the leaf pack might not be long enough to go into the axle. They offer a kit with new bolts too. https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p119/Axle_Shims_-_(2_degree_to_4_degree).html

Sorry to revive this from the dead, but can you just loose up the axle and slide the headstrong shim in and tighten everything back up?

Happy to help, if I remember right, the answer yea and no…
The shim is too wide to slide through, so you’ll need to take the front or back u bolt out enough. If I’m right though, you’ll feel better knowing the shin can’t go anywhere once it’s in there. A few tips, I used a jack with a piece of wood to push up on the leaf spring to get enough room for the shim to slide in there. I also remember having issues with moving forward or back if I lifted the leafs too high and the nub popped out of the axle hole, if that makes sense. Nothing that was too difficult to take care of.

Nice and good luck, hopefully it’ll fix your issues. I also ended up with some stainless steel fender washers on the carrier bearing to drop it some.
