And if they are really good they might play for 10’s of people in the WNBA. LOL, I just think it’s funny how horrible that league is. My wife watches all the softball games and I play lesbian or strait. It’s fun.

I watch mostly for the UConn Men and Women both. I am not much of a Pro Stick and Ball sport person, I hate hearing them Cry that they don't get paid enough to play a game. When I started as a Paid Firefighter in the early 90's I was making just over $6.00 an hour working a 24hr shift and worked my way up to Assistant Fire Chief.

    NCAA>NFL/NBA for sure.

I can't speak for MLB, but with all the junior and minor leagues in hockey, you don't get as many of those "overpaid babies" in the NHL. Too easy to get knocked back down to the lower leagues if you're not working hard enough to prove your worth. Furthermore, you can get drafted in college and likely never see the NHL ice for several years, if at all.

If I had the opportunity to watch an NFL game from a suite or watch Michigan in a normal seat at the Big House, I'm going to the Big House all day.

I noticed Legacy Motor Club sharing a merch trailer with Jr. Motorsports. Given they already have a business connection, do you think this will be Earnhardt Jr's pathway into Cup ownership? They've already got Noah Gragson as a driver; a Jr. Motorsports protege, so I wonder if- when the King finally bows out of the sport entirely, Jr. buys his share and becomes co-owner.

Daydreaming here, but it would be cool if, when Chevy kills the Camaro nameplate and goes fully electric, they spun off their performance brand and brought back the Pontiac nameplate and Firebird branding.

imagine the Cup version of this kit car (built on a Camaro chassis):

I think Petty is already completely bought out of LMC. I think he sold all his shares a while ago and was only involved for his namesake. That is what is so stupid about Petty bitching about the Petty name being removed. If I were JJ I would take his name off it also. I respect the king for his class. For what he did over the many years he was in the sport. But I do not respect that he is the king of the sport. No doubt he achieved a lot but he had a serious, and I mean extreme advantage for the majority of his career. For a long time he had hundreds of more horsepower and much of the time in tandem with more downforce. On an even playing field, in todays regulated competition. You would just not see that kind of success. When it comes down to it, Dale Sr was a better driver and Kyles win total across all three major series is a lot more impressive than the so called 200 wins that Petty had.
Richard had every opportunity to be an owner as big as any others. Simply put he decided to sell his company. And I do not feel bad for him and whatever legacy he lost in the process.

    Additional thoughts:
I've watched very little NASCAR on TV this year. The sheer amount of commercials and the producer's inability to adequately portray the on-track excitement on TV is frustrating. Then today, after seeing how much the Atlanta race ratings plummeted over last year's event, I realized, "maybe it's intentional." NASCAR is in a contract year for its TV deal. It is in FOX's best interest to willfully drive ratings down so they can negotiate a contract that benefits them. Could they be intentionally producing bad coverage to negotiate a lower contract?

I like the Fox broadcast. Usually well versed and smart commentators and with Harvick signed to be in the booth next year with Clint and Mike Joy, that will be great entertainment. The commercials are untimely and the side by side is worthless. We've seen many times when somethings substantial happens and the commercials continue to roll for 3 more minutes.

I'm not quite sure this is a Fox thing or a NASCAR thing. I guess we'll find out when NBC takes over. I have a feeling NASCAR is getting greedy and not staying true to it's redneck racing roots. They've tried to sell the sport in markets that aren't strong and they don't care.

I enjoy the racing, it's broadcast well.... what ruins it is marketing, which equates to more breaks and more commercials.

There are recycled commercials weekly in NASCAR. Those sponsors I'm sure are paying top dollar to have that slice. Do we really need commercials for the same product every 15 minutes?

I wish NASCAR could take a slice from the Masters Golf Tournament. Have a single, big name, sponsor the event with very limited commercials.

This weeks race is proudly sponsored by <insert name> with limited race interruptions.

I also enjoy the Fox broadcasts, way more than NBC. My biggest gripe with NBC is their complete mismanagement of their ticker followed closely by probably being worse about commercials than Fox.

Unfortunately, according to Mike Joy, NASCAR demands $25M per race for the rights. As we saw with the Kyle Busch saga last year, there's no $20M sponsor coming into NASCAR to alleviate that. So we're forced to endure commercials. I'd be interested in seeing the data on commercials now vs a couple of years ago just because this could also be a ploy by the networks to negotiate by getting fans on their side (kind of like you said about ratings).

Personally, I don't think Atlanta's ratings issue vs last season had anything to do with who was broadcasting it or the commercials. I think it had more to do with last year everyone wanting to see what new Atlanta was like and this year then realizing that it's not that good, combined with the shit show that was the truck and Xfinity series races the day before.

NASCAR is losing by not just going to an online streaming based platform where fans pay to watch. If the networks want to show it then sell it at a much reduced rate and let them show it on whatever network they want. I would have no issue paying $20 a month to stream the race with tune into team radio features and decent commentators who operate at the level of Ned Jarret and Eli Gold. Plus that allows way more coverage and they can show whatever events they want and schedule races that are not bound to mainstream schedules. You can't tell me NASCAR would not make more money.
Hell, I think I pay $10 or something a month for Motortrend and and they have dick for content.
