well a "kit" is at least a little better than having to make all the brackets from scratch I guess.

Got a question about brakes…I have an 09 OR with the electronic brake boost (no vacuum). It uses an electronic pump and accumulator to build rapid pressure for ATRAC and those type features from what I can tell. I’m worried since I have no wheel speed sensor input I won’t have crap for brakes.

I also don’t know how I would adapt another master cylinder on there since it has no vacuum assist…I really don’t want to mess with the pedal and all that if I can get away with it. Any ideas or information on if the factory set up will work or can be upgraded?

So the electronic pump is independent of any input from the wheels or otherwise? Hard to find any specifics on how it builds and maintains pressure vs a vacuum pump. Seems like it needs input from a nanny system. I’m totally new to brakes. Can barely find what fittings I need

so, on my 04 GX which has the same type braking setup, I had issues with the whole thing. one was ABS sensor line was broke. the electric pump went out. the accumulator went out. and had a broken wire going to the pressure transducer. the only time I didn't have brakes was when the pump and accumulator were bad. everything else I had brakes, but no ABS. the sensor line was fixed immediately cuz I had a code for it and then checked continuity for the wiring. the broken wire at the pressure transducer was the main culprit after everything else was fixed. it had broken at the pin in the connector but the wire was still inside the connector. I manipulated it and that wire popped out and that's how I figured it out.. but I could still drive it and stop like normal just no ABS

Eddy at sos ran his stock stuff like yours. Had 0 issues The trucks with vac boost have the issue with needing a brake booster and master swap

That’s good to know. Hopefully it’ll be powerful enough for the super duty calipers, but I’m doubtful. Going to try it first though.

So you think it’ll be a bit more powerful than the vacuum trucks? I wonder what my options are if it’s not. I can’t make heads or tails of the system that’s in there and what would fit.

Do believe you can utilize a tundra master cylinder and booster based on this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-2006-tacoma-brake-upgrade-edited.652471/

other option is a one ton master with the tundra booster.
    https://trailtoys.net/products/one-ton-master-cylinder-upgrade

Cant speak to whether this is needed but based on my stock brakes being terrible I can’t imagine there being enough pressure to have good brake feel with one ton stuff. My plan is to do the tundra stuff now, and then swap in the gm master down the road when I finally get to sas….axles have been sitting in the garage for some time now.

I don’t think I can without redoing everything since I don’t have a vacuum booster being an off-road. Not sure if the firewall is even the same to fit non off-road stuff. Trying to find some exploded diagrams and compare master cylinders between second gens so maybe I can adapt something if it’s not strong enough.

If it was my truck I would drive it around and see if it is even an issue and go from there, it may work just fine.

That’s the plan, just want to throw it out there in case someone had run into the same thing and before I spend money on brake lines if I can’t use them with a different set up.

Ah gotcha. Sr5 so don’t have as much fancy stuff. Is yours a manual trans btw?
I have read mixed stuff regarding the auto working without speed sensors. May have to adapt to the tcase when I swap rear axles.

Automatic for me. I hope it doesn’t need the speed sensors haha I don’t care about the speedometer or anything, but don’t want it to throw off the engine or shifting or something crappy like that.

Same boat, just need the truck to drive. Curious to hear what happens. Heard so many mixed things regarding the trans needing speed input for shifting.

I guess worst case scenario I’ll just shift manually. I’ll be in low most of the time doing that anyway.

    Too many to list
I did a rear axle swap for a friend on his 2013 Automatic Tacoma, slapped in a 14 bolt so no rear wheel speed sensors. It still drives the exact same, just no speedo or ABS. Hope that helps a little.

That’s good to know. Did the front sensors still work? I figure Toyota wouldn’t totally kill the brakes if a wheel speed sensor failed or something. That’d suck haha
