Hey all, I did do a search but couldn't get into any good info..

I am about to go over and help my brother with his 2020 SR5 that has only 14k miles on it.
While driving it the engine suddenly lost all power, all the systems failure lights turned on, and although it remains "slightly" drivable, it has no power at all and will not go over 20 mph. In my experience with other vehicles, this is what I'd consider limp mode.

Are there any common issues for this year and engine that seem to pop up often?

We just need to get an idea of what it most likely is or could be. His major issue at the moment is downtime, and our local dealer is notorious for very long wait times for getting into the shop.

    Thanks to any and all!

Needs to be scanned. If you don't have one, stop at parts store and rent one.

That's the first thing I plan on doing, I'm brining over my Bluetooth adapter. I'll definitely post the faults and search them on here!

OK, I'm a bit of a moron, I found out how to use the search function properly!!

So, it seems from reading worst case scenario is the engines toast! Couldn't find much about coil failure rates, other sensor issues, etc.

Doubt it is toast. Probably a sensor, or wiring rodent chewed on something.

Ahhh yes the old rodent splice!!
He's in the city, so hopefully it's not that.

I'm still involved in a three year campaign against the chipmunks and red squirrels at my house. So far they are winning.

I got chipmunks, and squirrels up the ying yang here, but so far they've not bothered my 2020 sr5, as they have lost big time. It's mice I worry about, as they have already done a number to the wiring on my snowmobiles.
As far as any issues with the truck....none so far at 21k miles. Its been great.

That is something I would have certainly overlooked, thanks! Great idea!
As a matter of fact, it sits in his driveway unused 99% of the time and if it's driven its always just less than 5 miles..
    Great idea, thank you!

Finally got to the truck yesterday.

Misfire coil 3, found that the wiring leads to the ignition coil had been severed (more below). The break in the wiring was right at the connection to the coil, wires too short to just splice back together. So, new connector assembly and new leads with terminals on order, easy.

BUT, the cause of the damage blows my mind, how the?

This damage was not critter related, that is the only thing I can be sure of!!

The leads were damaged from force, a three inch section was smashed flat and the wires in the center was torn through, just a few strands on each lead were still intact. So it held on for a while until it finally broke.

The truck has only 14k miles on it, and has only been serviced at the dealer. It's been in twice for oil changes with state inspection.
Why in the hell would there have been activity in that area of the bay?
He had it serviced in late October and has since put 800 miles on it. I can't belive that the torn wires held on that long before failing.

Oh well, not my truck, can't think about it anymore!

I still cannot find a reason for a tech to be anywhere, no recalls, anything.
The closest thing I can think of is checking the air filter condition. Maybe they had placed an object there out of convenience and it got kinda wedged in.
I cannot imagine it came from the factory like that

Seriously, the third time the hood was open was when I looked for the misfire!!!
