This is kind of weird. The TPMS system in my wife's '07 Highlander comes on pretty frequently. A couple of weeks ago the Left Front tire was low and the light came on. That tire was new about a month ago, so it seemed weird. I bought it to Town Fair and they replaced the valve stem. Okay, that's fine. Saturday she came home from shopping and told me that the light was on again. This time it was the Right Rear and it was low. I topped it off and reset the light.

Today she came on home and told me that the light was on again. I checked all four tires and all that I could find was that the Left Front was at 37psi. I took enough air out to get it to 32, which is what's on the door label. All of the others were also at 32psi.

So, my question will a TMPS sense a high pressure? I've never heard of that before and couldn't find anything on line about that.

I think the car is telling me it's time to replace it. ;) We plan on starting to shop for a replacement next month anyway, but this is annoying.

How many miles are people typically getting out of their Tacoma CV axles?

They will sense a high pressure but in my Taco at least I've had the air way higher than it should ever be and never had a light, so I don't personally know what the high alert is.

Does the spare wheel/tire have a sensor in it? If it does, hopefully the spare is just low on air pressure, but it might need a new sensor if it is already at the correct pressure and holds it for some time.

Most cars TPM system does not care if the tires are over inflated, just under inflated. I have seen it on many new cars, when they come in for thier first oil change, the dealer that sold the car/truck never adjusted the air pressure during the PDI, and they are usually over inflated by 10-15 psi (I think the manufacturer does it for transport).

Varies a lot. Axles from LKQ are normally from totalled trucks. I tend to have to replace an axle every 2 years, but I'm on 35s, locked front and rear and wheel the piss out of my truck when possible

Normally they only trip for low pressure. Like Nick said, check the spare for a sensor. Could be a low battery I guess but normally if the sensor stops working the light flashes if I remember right

That sensor in the spare tire caught me a couple of years ago, but now I can't remember if it was the Highlander or my '06 Tundra. I'll see if I can find out on line if the '07 Highlander has a TPMS sensor in the spare. I don't know why the light would clear if the spare was low, but if it comes back maybe it's a intermittent failure on the spare. I had that on my Tundra as well, but traded it in before I got around to having it fixed.

Weather permitting I'll drop the spare tomorrow and take a look.

I’m at 166K. Still original everything except for front wheel bearings, driveshaft and one lower ball joint/control arm.

I would assume so, I normally call the local store to order but that looks like the what you would want

Yea, I normally go through one every 2 years. My boots get torn and just wheel until the joint starts to fail and then replace. I think I have 2 or 3 left of the 5 I had

Wow, that's cheap! I wonder how much shipping world be to get it over to the east coast? I bought a couple CV axles from LKQ off of eBay and the last one I bought came from a 2022 Tacoma from California, so it was nice to have no rust! The first one came from a New York LKQ, and had a hole in the outer boot, so it was sent back.
