Didn’t @Snowy do this on his rig?

I’m interested in seeing how it works in practice!

Yep! It’s worked awesome with no movement at all. Doors still close perfectly, which is more than can be said for some sets of sliders I’ve had after a few years of abuse

Winding this project down and prepping to wheel. So glad I got these shocks out of the bed, by far the dumbest mod I ever did, and how I have them setup now I'm pretty sure I have more uptravel than before lol. I'm changing up my spare parts strategy for wheeling this year and carrying less stuff. Example is I used to carry a spare steering box (huge), tcase input shaft and a spare hub assembly. I typically don't wheel further than 4 hrs from home and my wife typically doesn't come with, so I'm going to leave that bulky shit at home and if worst comes to worst I'll have her bring the parts to me. I am also pareing down the tools. Example of the new bed layout below, the olive drab box is my new tool box, I used to have a 50gal action packer half-ass bolted to the bed before. The driveshaft will be put under the front of the tire by the front of the bed and the tire strapped on top of it, eventually it may end up strapped to a crossmember under the truck.
    IMG_20230312_202617825.jpg
I also bought a set of wrenches and sockets specifically for the truck, so I'll go from 2 tool bags down to one which will be sweet.

I did a shakedown run to AOP in Tennessee over the weekend, truck worked awesome, and we ran evrey hard non buggy trail in the park. I did rip my rear bumper off on one side, but I knew it was not going to last. My lspv also started leaking on the way home, so I need to replace that, It is 21yrs old and pretty crusty. Pics in coming as the group unloads stuff off their phone, I don't have many of my truck, obviously.

    What worked and what didn't:
    • The gas tank lift is awesome! I should have done this a long time ago, I didn't think I would notice it as much as I did.
    • Rear suspension felt great
    • Rocker sliders are good with a big but - I don't have anywhere to hook straps if I get stupid and need a winch to suck me down. I almost rolled forward into the entrance of little Caesars taking a bad line and that's where I tore the rear bumper off trying to suck me back down. A tube slider to tie to would have been very helpful in that situation.
    • My GMRS radio randomly turns on and off, I have some electrical issue somewhere that I didn't have before doing all this work.
    What didn't work:
    • Rear bumper, Its only mounted to the frame in 2 places, I need to get some more tube and gusset the hell out of it.
I can't wait to get the air bumps on this thing as well.

Dang I didn't even think about the loss of suck down or even side yanking of the sliders with the new change. Glad you love the gas tank lift! It really is a game changer not worrying about dragging it on shit.

Yea I was pooping my pants for sure! Thanks for the pics! It seriously felt like the rear tire was a few feet off the ground. Seeing the pics now I should have just hammered it in 3rd gear out of that, oh well!!

The rear tire lifted a foot or so when your bumper ripped off the frame lol

Been there a bunch IFS lol!! I normally don't get freaked out on offcamber, but the 2ft deep hole next to my driver's side tire and the ass end sliding sideways anytime I let the clutch out freaked me out big time.

I was definitely jittery after that!!
