Outside of a carrot, this was my first thought. Surely you’re not 100% ball deep yet.

i have a ball for my shifter too but the gap isnt that big. its still there but not enough for me to care, plus if there was something between the gap i wouldnt be able to grab the ball with a good grip.

heres the Amazon link for it. it uses shitty plastic threads but it stays on there nice and tight.

Remove current threaded insert, epoxy in a longer one. Use an appropriate length of derlin rod inserted into it, to get it clocked properly when tightened.

Run a die further down the shifter. Run a nut down the threads so the top of the nut is where you want to remove excess threads. Trim with Dremel. Remove nut slowly to clean cut burrs. Reinstall shift knob. Enjoy.

Just go to the hardware store and pick up an aluminum spacer tube. They come in different diameters and lengths, so just get one the appropriate size. Our local store even has chrome ones. Easy enough, and would look clean and almost oem.

Boy is this the wrong forum for you.

    Like others have said...
The best way to get a clean look is cut off the current nut, drill the ball and epoxy a threaded sleeve into the drilled hole so you can screw it down to the boot.
