Toyota extended warranty plan purchase

true. the strange part is when you go to use the extended warranty they say they will have to get approval to do the fix under the extended warranty.

 

Can't comment on the heads but with my subaru had to replace the radio, ac clutch, 3 out of 4 wheel hubs and torque converter. Never had an issue having the extended warranty cover any of these.

 

My point is you can get things done with any car maker. But since your asking subaru and toyota are connected. Toyota owns a small percentage on subaru.

 

...I'm sure an owners attitude has never played into how difficult the service writer makes the warranty process.

I know I would make some folks jump through extra hoops if they came at me the way they talk to folks on this forum.

But hey, I'm not a service writer and I think the warranty seems like a fair deal (assuming you're not a heavily modified truck). You're basically one big repair bill from breaking even, and another from being money ahead.

 

I sent Jerry an email yesterday afternoon. He called me back last night and told me that he unfortunately cannot sell a warranty to anyone outside of the US.

That's a good salesman and good service. No chance of a sale but returned my call back to explain. Wished me all the best with my Tacoma and thanked me for considering him.

 

Plenty of people had had their major issues fixed buy their extended warranty on here including myself.

Sorry if you got burned by buying a crappy warranty that you didn't read.

 

Does anyone have the price list for tire and wheel coverage?

 

Not something people would have. Likely 3rd party non-Toyota though dealership. Usually considered a $ maker and ripoff. But if you are on construction sites every day….

 

Does anyone know if Toyota prorates an unused warranty ? For example if I trade in the vehicle before expiration or if the warranty was never used.

Yes, it's prorated based on remaining warranty (lesser of miles or time).

 

Finalized a Toyota Platinum warranty with Jerry Johnson Warranty Manager with Midwest Toyota last night.

Dealer I bought the truck from quoted $6k
Then offered “a deal” at $3250

So crazy there is such a difference

 

Geico offers their customers a warranty on new cars purchased. It's not something they advertise and you need to ask about it. 7yr/100k and it was around $75 per year added to your premium. Dealer tried to sell me one for $2900 and I showed him my Geico plan. He said no more and I was out the door in 15 min.

 

That's nuts. Mine came down to $2100. I guess it would've eaten into there commission if mine went lower. Jerry's great, well worth people talking with him before they go into pick up there truck. That's what I did then called him after getting the dealer snow job. Hope he keeps beating everyone's prices.

Whatever it is I am certain it is not worth it. You can buy a used set of wheels and tires fairly easily for <$500

 

That's a 3rd party warranty, so you'd have to find a company that sells that type of coverage.
