I'm curious now. If Jeeps are Heeps, what is the appropriate slang term for a smashed up or clapped out Tacoma? I'm failing to come up with something clever, the name doesn't lend itself well to rhyming. Maybe a "turd" as a play on TRD?

Oh there will be some mods all right
For quite some time my plan has been to use my ever growing stack of home Depot gift cards (my choice of credit card rewards) for Milwaukee tools. I've changed my mind now and think I will eventually be getting a dual fuel closed frame inverter generator. I figure a generator is something that is nice to have on hand even if it's not used very often. From my admittedly small amount of research I've done, running a generator on propane keeps them healthy longer and requires less maintenance. They also run longer off a propane tank than a tank of gas.

You guys are all kicking ass signing the petition and sharing. Obviously you all have done your part, but if any of you are interested in doing any more there also is a spot on the website that I will link that has pre-written letters addressed to the relevant people in charge. You put in your information and then hit send, pretty easy and the people behind trying to acquire the public land say it'll make a difference. You can hit preview to see what the final messages will look like before you actually hit send.

    https://pelicanriver.org/take-action/#/25/

Obviously like before, no pressure, just figured I would let you all know.

What are you planning to use said generator for?

There are a couple uses I was thinking of. Keep a wood or pellet stove running. Power a portable AC unit if I wanted to do some middle of the summer camping (or just for powering anything to make camping turn into glamping) and also just to have on hand in case somebody I know whether it be family or friend could use some extra power in an emergency.

My buddy has a small gen that we use at Crandon to power the camper, it's very quiet and runs close to 12hrs on a tank of gas.

I’ve found it helps to go maybe 50% higher wattage than you expect to use. When you tun it all out, it gets louder fast, but if you aren’t fully loading it up, it’s far more reasonable.

Not sure what you mean here but his gen will run everything in the camper but the microwave and never changes it's tun, we put it on the back corner of the camper and can hardly hear it sitting around the campfire or inside.

Some of those smaller generators will run lighter loads at a lower RPM, and are so quiet you could pretty much stand right over the top of them and have a conversation. But, they can kick into a higher RPM if you put a heavier load on them. Not all of them are like that, but I think most of those little suitcase generators operate that way.

Edit: do you happen to know what brand this generator is?

Vacationing in Florida with my folks and one of our neighbors gave us a tour of his new place he's having built. He/his family had patents to Krispy Kreme and Kroger that they sold last year, so...you could say they have some cashflow.

Took this photo for some of you electrical nerds - @Thatbassguy you'll appreciate this, 400 amp service:

Oohh, looks like Square D QO panels, with plug-on neutrals for the AFCI breakers.

Square D makes the best electrical gear, hands down. Would definitely be my #1 choice.

My Honda is super quiet, right up until I turn the 1500 watt space heater on, then you sure can hear it. Well, unless it’s 50’ away, then it’s pretty quiet.

I really don't think anyone makes a better portable generator!

As many on here have found out, buy once cry once is a true statement. That being said, the Honda generators are so expensive many times you could buy two of another brand for the price of one Honda...

You probably could, but when I was researching then one guy had a company where they used a lot of them. He bought half Hondas and the other half were the second best rated ones. He has about 50 of each. After using then for 2 years and doing normal maintenance on all of them, 2 of the Hondas had issues and half the other ones were not in any condition to use in the field without a rebuild. That sealed it for me.
