Any plans to add powder coating to your setup?

I just had my worse commute yet today. My drive from San Francisco usually takes ~35 minutes. Today it took 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Been running one for almost a year now (since we moved into our new home).

It's a Prime Weld CUT60, and it's a blow back model that I opted for since I also run a CNC setup at home.

It's possibly my second most used tool, and I use it any time I need to cut any sort of metal with the exception of square or round tube.

My bumper is comprised of parts I cut out using only the hand torch, all 3/16" -

    20220915_101555.jpg

    20220915_111830.jpg

It's useful when you're cutting awkwardly sized pieces that you can't put on a bandsaw or hot saw, this is 1/4" -

    20220913_105911.jpg

    20220913_110334.jpg

I intended to run CNC which is why I got it to begin with but even without a CNC setup, it is well worth the cost over using an angle grinder and cut off wheels.

That shit is for Neanderthals or people who hate themselves.

Me? I want to spend less time working hard and more time coming up with more shit to cut or make.

    20230224_181032.jpg

Also that Eastwood rod bender I bought months ago is coming in clutch over making dumb little things.

The 'tray' I cut earlier for my new welder will sit the new machine on top. Just bent up some 1" flat stock to act as an "edge" to keep the machine in place -

That seems to be the next item that the people in these CNC groups opt to purchase.

A lot of DIY oven setups that look pretty legit (I know @BartMaster1234 set one up).

I'd love to do powder coating for sure though but keep it at a small scale.

Mine is just a double oven modified to be one huge chamber. Ton of free units on Craigslist.

Yeah there are some badass setups out there for sure.

    Cheap too!

Seems it's the whole 'setup' that just takes some careful planning IE air, 'booth' to spray in, etc

    Exactly.

    Ovens are the most used.

@treyus30 was just asking; I haven't put much thought to really look into it yet.

I've just been busy running the CNC as much as possible so I can dial in all my speeds. So far I can cut 12 gauge, 16 gauge, and 3/16" with practically no dross at all.

Hell even the 1/4" I cut last week had practically no dross, but the little it had was because of torch height variances. Need to square up the gantry tube once more.

Acouple of weeks ago I was asking about LBJ and Otre options for the 4R. To that end I picked up a set of OEM pieces for it. I also had on hand a set for the Tacoma. I am very surprised how much more heavy duty the parts are for the Tacoma. I had always been under the impression that the 4R front end was pretty much the same as the Tacoma. Not so though.

LBJ comparison. Tacoma on the right.

There was some discussion about the differences in the shape of the outer TREs too. Significant difference.

Nice. I've had a HF one for a long time that's worked out fine for me, but it's the oven size that's a limitation

It's a road going rig, there's ultimately no reason to use the Tacoma parts when you can't keep the swaybar

This? I know they carry spray paint accessories but didn't know they carried anything powder coating related with the exception of air equipment.

    Particularly, anything that's an upgrade.
