Navigating using Apple maps

I melted a few of those when I had efans.

 

Ever find your reason? It is weird. The 30 amp fuse didn't blow. Just melted the whole holder. It has slowly been deforming until the picture above. The other fuse holder I had already swapped. To a Littlefuse brand. Slightly smaller gauge, but has been holding up just fine for a couple of years already.

 

Yes, I like to know as well. I purchased two Spal 12” fans that together are supposed to pull 4400 cfm. I don’t remember the amps they pull now but it’s a boat load. Now I need to find someone who can build & weld an aluminum shroud to fit the drop in Mishimoto radiator I’m hoping to use.

The fans came with a metal shroud powdered coated to look like it was aluminum.

Any ideas if this should keep a 5.3 LS cool?

Oh, as I’m sure you know GM LS engines have 3 different pulley systems.
The closest to the block is mainly the Vette, then the Camaro and the most common Truck accessories. I must admit that the AC bracket you purchased looks exactly like the Truck one I have that I didn’t use.

 

Cooling isn’t going to be your problem with the LS. Oil pressure is

 

Must be an under hood heat issue. The connections must have too high resistance, melting before the fuse pops. Only did it when it was triple digits outside.

 

What size is that wire? It might just be the photo, but it looks small for 30 amps.

Either way I would suspect that fuse holder is not rated for 30 amps, unless you think that fuse holder was touching something else that was hot.

 

The wiring was 12 or 10 gauge. The one next to it is of 14 gauge, which came with the 30 amp fuse in it. Without looking at a chart, I would think that 30 amps would require minimum 12 gauge? Regardless, the new fuse holder has been holding up just fine. Time will tell.

 

When I tried Googling it, the first response said 10 ga. The next was a chart that said 8 ga. In my experience though the wire size charts for 12V stuff are all over the place and don't agree with each other...

DC is very dependent on the length of the run though and I suspect your run is 5 ft or less so it should be pretty forgiving with a smaller gauge wire.

I used 12ga wire for my e-fan a while back. Let's just say that was a bad engineering decision.

The work on the BRZ is on hold again, as we figure out which Corvette parts we need. In the mean time, I did a little more welding on this odd merge collector. Without a swaging tool, it wasn't easy to flare the opening.

 

Do you want or need any of these accessories? I purchased these from a wrecking yard in your neck of the woods. They are from 04 Vette w/ 34k miles (supposedly) when I tried to look up the VIN only thing I could find out is the mileage “looked” correct, it was black and went for a swim. I paid $425 and was only able to use the AC bracket & compressor and the balancer. Make an offer and they are yours if you can use them?…
*Edit* Well crap no one seem interested so I posted them on Craigslist and they sold in less then 24 hours for $250. And Shit I just put “make reasonable offer”.
