Yes haha. The HH BiB is a daily and I’m out of it so I needed a restock. I’m sure I’ll go through the two Russell’s quickly too - the only Russell’s I’ve had is the 13 year and I was not a fan. I think it must’ve been a bad bottle because it was undrinkable. The Stagg, couldn’t turn that down.

It's actually pretty decent. Don't think it will blow your socks off but definitely tasty.

I splurged today. It’s been a kind of shitty week, month, year in some ways. So, bourbon retail therapy. And maybe I’ll get to actually drink some of it.

I’d turned my nose up at the Baker’s 7 previously for…really no reason. I’d tried it once at the bar but the bartender bizarrely poured it over a giant glass of ice and kind of ruined it. Had it again recently with a neighbor…it’s good! In my county and one county over, allocated. Go one county in the other direction, not allocated.

The Bernheim and the Rebel because experience has taught me that I love high proof wheateds. Whatever, judge me.

I have a Yamazaki 12 I got as a gift a couple months back that I think I need to crack open tonight. Also, everything “Japanese” I’ve had so far I’ve liked. I’ve been eyeing the Miyagikyo, but never pulled the trigger on that one and now I can’t find it haha

I had heard good things so I picked up a bottle of the Bakers and was torn on it after the first drink. A month later the bottle is about halfway empty and my GF says wow you really like that one! I hadn't even really noticed that it became a go to.

Edit: I swear I know how to read.

After trying it neat with the neighbor, he smoked it with some pecan wood chips. Which, was absolutely delicious.

Stopped by one of the shops I frequent and happened to notice four different bottles from Nikka. funny how I read this post and start seeing more and more… :) A colleague of mine was in Japan earlier this month and has a bottle of Suntori for me (which I understand is the bottle that is everywhere in Japan) - so, I’ll give that a try when I get it to see how this style differs before I delve into another.

It is funny how things that escaped notice before suddenly are jumping out at you. Suntory is a distillery that makes Hakushu, Yamazaki, Hibiki and others. They also own Jim Beam (Beam Suntory), Makers Mark, Macallan and others. Which bottle do you have?

I don’t know what he picked up for me. He hasn’t given it to me. he lives in Seattle and I’m in New Mexico. We have a national meeting next week, so may get it from him then. I’ll post back when I get it and let you know.

Actually, it is pretty good. Not very complex, but that was expected. I'd certainly buy it again.
It has no age statement and was $17.

Work has had me on the road off and on for the past 7 weeks. This week I was in Houston and had good luck bourbon hunting:

Good to know! I have been freezing an insulated coffee mug, and smashing the tops and bottoms to get the clear center

    :rofl:Nice…

These take around 20 hours. I think it’s the insulated slow freezing process that produces the clarity.

I just had to check the recent one, tons of air got trapped in the process.

Ya'll know they make ice trays right? Or even better, my fridge just makes its own cubes in a little dispenser.
