What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

This was actually done several weeks ago. I got sick (....and tired) of dealing with the HVAC control back lights going out. Replaced bulbs, added solder to the contacts, ...... nothing helped long term. So I made some hold-downs from angle brackets. Seems to have put this nagging issue to bed.

Perforated vinyl. Cheap and were in stock so only took 2 days to get to me.

Truck is a 2005 so no airbags in either the bench or the buckets. Just had to swap over the seat sensors and wiring and make a spacer for the rear left driver's seat mount so the seat sat level.

 

Dang. I was hoping yours had airbags and you found a easy way to do the swap. Thanks.

You really can't beat Clazzios. Had leather ones in my 3rd gen for 5.5 years and looked new when I sold it. The leather is only in the center and the bolsters are PVC. That PVC held up just as good as the leather, in the 2016, so now we have the perforated PVC in our 2008 and 2012 that were only $230 each pair. I have been sold on this brand since January 2016.

 

My truck is current in the shop, and I want to order some mods . Could someone do me a solid and measure the distance between the drivers' seats?

I need to know the maximum width of a speaker box I can put in the backseat, but I want the seats to still recline all the way. So i need to know the width I'm working with. Thanks! (not my picture lol)

 

Finished the rear molle panel install. Took out the test fit panel, tried building a hard foam airbox for the vent (that helped some but not a lot). Used egg crate style acoustical foam to form a channel along the top half of the wall to let the air vent breathe, but to try and quiet it down. Used a combo of hard foam and egg crate acoustical foam to add more mass and damping to the bottom half of the wall. Then cut and fit 1/8" industrial felt to act as a backer for the molle panel. Then reinstalled everything. It's quiet - at least as quiet as the original wall and looks great.

As are as sound deadening, I wish I'd checked with a decibel meter before and after, but since I didn't do that I can just assume it's perfect!

 

I have a 14 SR5 and the distance between the front seats is 10 inches.

 

The box is 12.25 inches, do you think the seats could squeeze between that?

 

Exactly where will the box be?

 

Over the transmission hump. I don't want to lose recline features of the front seats.

I don’t think it would work in my truck, like I said mine is a 14 SR5 DCLB. I don’t know if there’s any difference between my truck and yours as far as the seats go.

I have a similar box to this in my AC, from Supercrewsounds, with a down facing 10” sub and you will lose your recline abilities. My box sticks out like an inch on each side of the center console so the seats hit it. It’s not a big deal, for me, but that may be a big deal to you.
