I don’t like the nylon bands either but I’m dealing with it. Just soaping it up once a week or so when I shower and it seems to keep smells down and I get to keep being cheap. I’d be scared to wear a really nice watch. I scratch the hell out of everything I wear.

The ol Tag Heuer Formula 1 Quartz today. It's a tank of a watch.

I've heard the Luminox is supposed to be practically indestructible or that's what I was told by a jeweler. He said the lumination on them are guaranteed for 20 years. But I don't see paying the 5 to 700 price tag.

Luminox watches are pretty tough and rugged.

My friend just broke his wrist playing indoor soccer in a freak sort of crush accident and his Luminox didn’t miss a beat. He’s replaced a few rubber straps. It’s a tank for sure.

Decided to spend my 150 Lexus points on a wear everyday watch. Nothing fancy, get the job done and usually more than I would spend watch. I was really debating the Tissot PRX quartz. But talked myself out of it because I have a small wrist and it wears so large.
Seiko 5 field watch, 40mm and numbers large enough I can see it without glasses. Lol. The band is just ok for a $200 watch but that's ok with me. I'm a simple man. Also includes manual wind and hacking.

That's purty. When mine craps out on me, my next one may very well be that model. $200 is about the most I think I'd ever spend on a watch knowing that it's gonna live a pretty rough life.

I will have to post tomorrow I traded my Breitling that was in rough shape for 3 watches last night. A Seiko sk007 Pepsi, a Hamilton field khaki, and the one I am wearing today but not overly a big fan of. Its called a Mint and came with different bezels and straps.

Teaser of the next build. Really like how the dial looks. It'll be going into a nautilus style case. Waiting for a blue seconds hand to come in and then the build can happen.

Beautiful watch! I've got the same but a different color. Had it a couple years now and love it. IMO, these Seiko's look better on aftermarket straps rather than the OE bracelet.

Yeah! 4R36 is a great movement! I would have thought the newer 5's would have the old 7s26 non-hacking/winding mvt.
I have a few Seiko Turtles with 4R36 and they are accurate and bulletproof (other than the date wheel quirk... read up on that so you don't break teeth off the day wheel. I bought a used one that has a broken tooth so I have to advance the day 24h at a time, doesn't work well in the 2nd crown position).
