Does anyone have experience with the edge clamp style of rack bar holder? I used them in the 90's but not since. I have all the other Thule parts from an explorer I sold. I just need new adapters but this is all Thule has to offer for mounting to the Tacoma.

I have that style rack on my 2nd gen but its Yakima. I've had it for a few years now. Works perfect.

I also have the Yakima version. It works fine. It's noisy without the fairing. It's a little bit of work to take on and off - I put it on in the spring and take it off in the fall.

It's what I ran before my Prinsu showed up. Worked fine for kayaks and ladders. Worked in the 90's, works now.

Also have the Yakima for naked roof. It is rock solid. Like RichVT, on in summer off in winter. No leaks around the door seals, and no lasting marks on roof or door seals . 100% satisfied with set up.

They work fine. I had the Yakima version. However, I much prefer bed bars over a roof rack. What are you mounting and carrying? Kayaks?

I have an Inno rack with the edge clamps. Super secure and no leaks…

Canoe, snowboards, cargo box... the usual suspects. I would prefer bed bars as well. My ultimate plan is a Retrax tonneau with t-slots and bars up top but that's like $3k. For now the Thule should work.
